What are you playing this week?

I'm pretty certain there's likely been a thread akin to this one, but...let's get fresh, yo. I see disconnected, scattershot threads about certain games people are playing, but wouldn't it be cool to have a thread for peeps to roll by occasionally and share their most recent gaming experiences, without the burden of starting a big shebang kind of thread? All right.

So, what are you playing this week? How is it? Any specific reasons? Other thoughts?

I'll start. This week, I've been playing Super Castlevania IV (getting in that Halloween spirit), Sunset Riders (got it from another member this week!), and Knights of the Round, which I got a ridiculous deal on at a local shop just this morning. I just picked up CV IV again late this afternoon and got the furthest I've ever gotten, to the level after the two-headed dragon boss. Ha, probably not a great feat, but I was pretty stoked; got frustrated and ready to quit, so I shut it off for now. Sunset Riders, I knew was a great game, by repute, but I was pleasantly surprised with it, regardless. It's definitely a challenge for me, but it nicely straddles the line between crazy and somewhat managable--a winning combination. I feel pretty satisfied when I break new ground. I almost beat Knights of the Round on the first playthrough; that's unsual for me, not being the dopest gamer in history. Didn't quite make it, though. Arthur is probably my favorite character to play with, thus far.

  • Every time I go to pop a game in I decide "well how about one more round of Mario maker" every day since I got it. It is fantastic though! Tired of making levels? Play other people's levels. Tired of playing levels? Go back to making them.
  • Playing this with my girlfriend. We've been going through this and watching horror movies everyday to get into the spooky mood!
About 10 hours into Resident Evil 4 now. Just finished the part where you gotta shoot the 3 pieces of wood to release the gears, then got across the bridge and into the room where you gotta fight 2 of the big blind claw guys Parts tough. Died a couple times and figured that was a good stopping point for last night.

Besides that, just got this in the mail today! Been playing the demo and am just now diving into the real game! Pretty cool little rpg!

Then tomorrow I'm going to go pick up Yoshi's Wooly World! Been looking forward to it! Looks like a fun little platformer!
  • Uhhh Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate with the gf

and Castlevania Dawn of sorrow on the ds.
  • Final Fantasy XIII (PS3)

Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix (PS3)

Bought the latter new at Walmart recently.
  • Not much, a little bit of Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen here and there, and I'm nearly finished up with Zelda: Oracle of Ages on 3DS (a gift from an NA user)
  • Counter-Strike:Global Offense. I haven't played shit else for weeks... Kind of stuck in a rut with this game, not sure how to move on to something else. Maybe once I reach Global Elite I can give it a break, but until then, I just want my next rank up dammit.
  • been playing Morrowind and Mario Maker, might break out Dragons Crown in a couple days.
  • Dragon Warrior IV......Just started Chapter 5

    .
  • Funny I've been playing Dragon Warrior 2 myself. I've been playing Battlekid 2 intermittently as well.
  • Shinobi III

I've been trying to beat it on expert without losing any lives. I've come close.

EDIT: I just came so close. I _stupidly_ fell and lost a life on stage 7-1, the part where you're hanging from the bottom of a large ship or something. I didn't lose any lives the rest of the game. Crap.

Still have yet to get it, same with III. Dragon Warrior I is in the mail right now...I have always had the cart since I was a wee lad but never had any of the maps or the explorers handbook.

  • Chrono Trigger
  • 100% of my gaming over the last week has been Rock Band 4. I picked up Tearaway Unfolded yesterday since it's on sale at Best Buy so I'll jump into that this weekend.
  • Im currecnty wrist deeo in Skies Of Arcadia for the DC.

Im liking it alot. The music suits the levels, and the scenery in awesome. I love the theme of air pirates, and a little swashbuckling. Reminds me of one of my favourite Hiyao Miyazaki movies, Laputa: Castle in the Sky. Customizable airship, and I love the magic system, where every character can learn any magic, as long as you put in the time to have them learn it (In a fantasticaly non-grind kind of way too..... so far anyways.)

Sometimes I find the characters to be a little bit TOO quirky and up beat. There's a very high level of optimism, not that that is bad, but I like when RPG's hit that solemn nerve that makes you want to shed a tear.... y'all know what I'm talking about ;p

I'm really loving it, and haven't been able to get into an RPG like this due to time constrains and life recently, But a bunch of free time came available while in school til the end of November, so my wife encouraged an RPG. I'm so far very satisfied with the pick! Only gotten 1 moon stone still though, so ill keep updates on it!
  • Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Mario and Luigi: Dream Team, and about to take Minecraft Story Mode for a spin.

What are your thoughts so far? I think the Beatles and RB3 left the series higher than whatever I want to see from other music games.

I just recently 100%'ed LEGO Jurassic World on the 360 with the Mrs. Yelir and started up South Park: The Stick of Truth. I've owned it for a long time but never got a chance to try it, shame on me!
  • Final Fantasy 1 on my PSP. It's my first time playing any final fantasy game (unless you count chocobo tales on the DS). Not sure how I've gone this long without playing final fantasy. There's a reason why this series is a classic and still has games being made to this day.
  • New games: Still playing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Battlefield 4. Fun games.

Older games: Trying to go through at least something in my NES collection, but there's not a lot to choose.
  • Hyrule Warriors and Mega Man 8

It's more Rock Band which since I haven't played a Rock Band game in probably two years I was ready for. They are still working on getting all the import/dlc stuff to come over but as it is now I have around 250 of my old songs imported that I get to play.

  • I was still working on Battletoads, but I'm hitting a serious brick wall at Terra Tubes (I truly feel it's due to overplaying, and I need a good week-long break), so I've been playing Friday the 13th for the seasonal thing, and also working through Zelda II without getting the statue/stones at the end of Palaces until after I'm maxed out level-wise.

    TL;DR:

    Battletoads

    Friday the 13th

    Zelda II
  • Nothing. My TV died the other day. Was only about 4 years old. Won't buy LG again. Picking up the Samsung JS8500 today though.
  • Splatfest and uncharted.
  • Shovel Knight
  • Just beat Turtles in Time on the SNES last night with my neighbor. Rocking awesome.
  • Nothing. Hopefully moving my collection back into the house this weekend and setting it all up again. It's been in boxes for the last 3 weeks while new floors have been installed.
  • Here's mine:

Just cause I'm the primary on-call tech this week, and I just never feel like doing anything these weeks.  Need to preatice final fantasy\dragon warrior but just can't seem to be motivated to.
  • Started Tales of Phantasia on SNES this week for the first time, have about 3 hours into it.

I love SNES rpg's but I find I always play the same ones over and over. It's probably been 15 years since I finished a new one, high time for sure.
  • I'm still trying to beat Lolo 3 but it feels like it's melting my brains. Lol

So I'm trying to find a new game to play in between Lolo sessions. Thinking Animal Crossing or Harvest Moon
  • playin super luigi u. Love this game the levels are super short and a good challenge. Bout to rock some wolly world later
