Donkey Kong Country Rom Hacks?

I've looked around, and what I found was pretty inconclusive, so I'm going to try asking here... Are there any good DKC rom hacks out there? I've only seen info on one or two, but they are the 'impossibly hard' kind of rom hacks, which isn't what I want. I'm looking for something thats just well made and fun to play, but a fresh experience. A good rom hack thats just fun to play, and can be put on a cart and played on real hardware. Basically, I'm looking for the DKC equivalent of what "Return To Dinosaur Land" was to SMW.



Does such a game exist? I really love the DKC series, and would love to play a 'new' one, as long as its one thats actually fun to play and not a Kaizo version of it. I've found basically nothing on DKC rom hacks, which I throught was kind of odd, with it being such a popular game?



Does anyone know of any that might be worth a try?

    This is one I would play, but as far as I know there are not. If there are please quote me or pm me.

    I would venture a guess that it is an incredibly hard game to hack new levels for, because of the nature of the graphical assets.

    They are not sprites (except the characters), but instead hardcoded polygonal messes... or something. You just can't drag/drop any of those assets and make a whole new level without it looking like the worst patch job ever.



    I explained this horribly, but hopefully someone understands.

    I mentioned something on GameFAQs about how I would like to see a DKC Maker, and got a similar response to what you said. I dunno the specifics either but long story short, you probably won't ever see any good hacks of the DKC games due to how complex they are.



    It is a shame, too. I would have so much fun with a DKC Maker.

    Ahh that's disappointing, the description you gave was messy, but I think I'm picking up what you're putting down lol. I love those games so much, especially the first one lol... would be nice to see a modified version of the first that's all been redone into a new game, like what 'Dinosaur Land' was.
