Worst NES game EVER?

  • It's great, no one mentioned deadly towers , it's really hard but not the worst game ever
  • Action 52 is not only bad it is broken though if I had to pick a licenced game I'd pick top gun. Ugh...
  • i guess no one here has played Infiltrator. Took me 30 minutes to get the helicopter off the ground. Followed by me crashing within minutes. Its like trying to play a 90's microsoft flying simulator with only 2 buttons.

This game is dirty brown water trash.
  • I picked up airwolf knowing nothing about it hoping it was a shmup. I was very disappointed. I didn't like tom and Jerry very much. And I hate the adventures of Rad gravity

I came here to post this.  Seriously the most tedious game I've ever played.  Horrible.  I don't usually knock games either, as I even enjoy many unlicensed games.

I grew up with Airwolf, total unplayable mess.

  • Indiana Jones Ubisoft is god awful. I swear it was literally back-ported from the gameboy to the NES. It's that fucking bad.

Man, a lot of hate for Top Gun? I don't get it.

I like that game. Landing on the carrier and mid-air refueling! Plus you can choose your payload before starting each level.

I mean it's nothing like the movie, so I guess that could be a strike against it in many people's minds. But I always found it to be fun (once I learned how to land). An Advantage Stick is a must, tho.
  • Deadly Towers sucks my ass

I was gonna go with this one, as far as licensed games go I can't think of any I enjoyed less.

  • What's worse, the fact that I like almost every game mentioned so far in this thread, or the fact that my vote for worst NES game goes to Super Mario Bros 3? You decide!

SMB3 huh? I think you're trying too hard to be different.

  • Godzilla 2.

Well, I guess someone had to buy these games back in the day.

Super Mario Brothers 3 is not the worst NES game. The worst NES game is Batman: Return of the Joker.

Wiz has been saying this for years. I sincerely doubt he's just trying to be different..
  • Some of the games named are awesome! Dr. Chaos? Silent Service? Deadly Towers? All are in the upper 50% for the system, and Dr. Chaos is probably in the upper 25%.

I've noticed that for a lot of people, "bad game" = "game that makes me feel stupid". I understand that impulse but I can't really get behind it, especially if someone hasn't read the manual -- that's not the game's fault. For me, wasting my time is a much more serious offense; I'll never forgive Back to the Future for its bullshit, one-chance-only last stage that ruins everything that came before.

Anyway, if you include unlicensed games, then Action 52 clearly takes the cake.

Otherwise, I dunno...Athena sucks throughout, and Orb 3-D has a severe case of suckage in later levels. And the fact that success in Dragon Power is almost entirely dependent on the RNG, well, that also sucks. But worst ever on the NES? I'm not sure if I've played that game yet.
  • Action 52 is an amusing novelty because of how weird it is, but it wasn't worth $200.

The old "E.T. Syndrome", where people blurt out how bad something is without understanding it, and without knowing how foolish they sound saying it when there's far worse games than it.  Hell, HSW also did indiana jones, which is much more complex than ET, how come it gets none of the hate?

One big issue people talk about with Dark Towers is sword speed, because they 1) don't get you need to fire up close at first, and 2) they don't get it raises in speed with power ups.  My biggest issues with the game involve the "warps" and hidden mazes.  And pretty damned boring boss fights where they just sit infront of a door...

Anyways, you're all full of shit.  The WORST Nintendo game is one that good a great game, and fucked it so hard in the ass it's guts were ripped apart.  A game that I loved dearly, a game that, in some circles, is considered a holy object.  That game?

Oh, don't remember the box? The iconic box, that later got the series the name "the gold box series"?  Here's their first fuckup:

Why the fuck is it blue?  I mean sure, the source materal was green:

But is that, the changing of the sacred gold box, the sin?  Hell no. What about how they randomly dropped a ton of class combos from the game for no reason?  Nah, that's not it.  This is mostly about graphics, and control.  This is the game I grew up playing:

    And on amiga:

This is the shit that got ported to the nes:

Wanna see the above fight on PC?

Control is all fucked up, items are all over the place, and I'm not even sure the math of the unerlying engine is correct in the short time I played.  This series got me started on RPGs, introduced me to tactical RPGs and the Dungeons and Dragons, and has cost me a few hundred to complete the set.  It's an amazing series, turned into a pile of crap by FCI and Pony Canyon.  The same fuckers who did hydlide (A game that actually helped videos out a ton in development; people don't seem to know it predates the nes by many years and just never should have been ported as-is)

This is the worst game ever, because of the damage it did to my feelings.

    (Also cause they removed this:

    )
  • Deadly Towers was another one I ended up liking once I figured out how to play it.
  • Pirate original games. There's a Russian game called Lines with the worst soundtrack ever.
  • I wipe my ass with this game.

  • All the THQ games are tied for worst NES game ever.

Yeah pretty much. I have two copies of ET now, the original and Khan's homebrew NES port. Falling in pits sucks. They say you can learn around it but I don't have the patience to learn how to play a bad game. Khan supposedly fixed some of the more glaring bugs in the original, but I haven't gotten around to playing it. Want a good lampoon on the E.T. saga? I recommend "AVGN: The Movie". Instant Cult Classic that makes The wizard look like a contender for the Oscars. At least there's tons of ROTFLMFAO moments...
  • Total Recall. Silent Service. Deadly Towers. BIBLE ADVENTURES, parents bought me this retarded game and I absolutely hated it. BIBLE ADVENTURES in case I forgot to mention it.

This is how I feel about Ultima Quest of the Avatar. I grew up with it on Commdore 64, it was one of the first games I ever beat in my life. Years later when I found out there was an NES version, I was so excited. Was. Holy fuck what did they do??? These were the types of games I used to use as evidence that the Commodore 64 was more powerful than the NES in many ways.

Not to mention all the cool stuff that came with the Commodore 64 version (cloth map, ankh, etc)

Uck. Not to mention it came out like half a decade later and managed to be a worse game.

He told me this on his yacht many moons ago whilst The Hotdogglers were smuggling cans of Spam across the moat between Tennessee and Canada. Although, the more I think of it, it may have merely been mentioned some other time. Maybe it was on the Inner Circle train that one time we all got together and drove from Butte, Montana to Egypt to see the Dead play in the Louvre.

That was quite the trip! As are most with the elite inner circle!
