I don't recall playing many THQ titles on the NES, so thanks for the heads up.
I played James Bond Jr. once. I fell down a pit ... and kept falling. Then I tried to cross this pool of water, and it hurt me. Okay, it's one of those obstacles. Except it kept bouncing me around and draining my life. No recovery or anything. I said, "Fuck that noise," shut it off and never played it again.
That top video is what is on the Hot Dog Champ carts. Silly, innit?
That's it? So Hot Dog Champ cart is just an Insane Clown Posse themed SMB2 hack... Collectards will buy anything, LOL!
PS - I mean no offence to anyone. Buy/play/collect whatever you like. I actually had buyer's remorse for that "The Wall" themed Donkey Kong hack, and i only paid $32 for it. The label does look good next to my MOON8 music cart though...
Deja Vu is a very valid one for worst NES game! I always forget about it because, well, it sucks lol.
What is your opinion of Shadowgate?
I originally owned Shadowgate on Macintosh and loved it. Still do. When I later discovered the NES port, I had to try it and found it a bit lacking by comparison (despite the addition of color graphics and music) but still a decent experience. Thinking back on it, I actually think the *lack* of music in the Mac version added to the sense of despair and isolation. Playing late at night, with the lights out, the occasional piercing wail of a banshee or mad cackling of the Warlock Lord really rattled your nerves. And the music when Death claimed you...I'll never forget.
I've wanted to try Deja Vu (NES or Mac) but haven't gotten around to it yet.
I really like NES Shadowgate. It's the only version I've played. I think it's generally regarded well, or at least not poorly. Deja Vu uses the same engine/interface, so I'm curious how people compare them. I haven't played it (or Uninvited, which is also built on that structure).

Well, the only part that I find genuinely amusing about the HDC carts is that I doubt anyone willing to pay above the initial cost (from free to $20) probably does not get the joke or know what is on it, so in a way a point is proven, albeit not one I care to point out too often because.... 'tis sad

At least "Swamp Thing" has the decency to put THQ in big letters in the front so you know what to expect.
THQ also had a hand in some of the best wrestling games of all time, though. Massive deception IMHO, lol.
They cleaned up their act later, but on the NES they were more or less a dud factory.

Go play Wayne's World and tell me what you think. It's quite the trash heap.

Didn't IW jump in price quite a bit this year, too?

Yeah. It's kind of uncommon and really pretty good.
Pretty colorful graphics, a decent shooter with lots of powerups and an interesting isometric view.
I think it's going for around 20-25 now.
