Alright well I purchased these games from the same guy who was selling the Caltron Manual and the stadium Events manual I believe (I dont remember exactly) But I bought this just because it was a good price and Ive been really wanting a Dodge ball Box. Well its been awhile since the auction so I opened a dispute as I figured I would from the beginning (thought Id take a chance).... heres the Link

Well as I was finishing up the dispute I looked at the Sellers Email and name.... heres what I saw.....

David Pendergast

Tell me, is that not the hounder that we all know??

  • That would appear to be him. I wouldn't peg him to be a scammer....he's been known to be slow. I wonder if something happend to him.
  • Well this certainly is interesting..........
  • Holy shista. Thats big time. I think a little more investigating needs to be done, though, before any decisions are made on this. Certainly does NOT look good, though. Hopefully you get what you paid for or a full refund. Really hope this was not hounder but all signs point to it image
  • Well Hogie I can tell you I won 2 of the auctions as well... I think it was a CLU CLU CIB with a mint box and a Sealed new Race America or Motor City Patrol, I can't remember which it was. Well I smelled BS right away and emailed the seller about 10 times before I would send money. I told him he smelled fishy and gave him the forum links to see what people were saying about him. I also told him that if he actually completed a good transaction with someone known on the forums that it would give them some credibility. Finally got a response back and they said they would send first and that I could pay after I received items. I said that would be great and I would then be happy to go on the forums and let people know he was legit, at least with me. Well it's been like 4 weeks now, I believe, and I have emailed abunch more times with no response. I now noticed he has 4 negatives from same round of auctions so I just deleted the two items I won as lost cause... thank God I never paid for them!!!!!!!!
  • oh man!!! This is shocking x 10. Can't belive that David would do this. I guess / suppose everyone waiting for stuff from him can pretty much hold there breath now. wowzers!!!!

  • Yikes, that is shocking... I really hope Hounder stops in a fixes this mess. If it helps any, I'm also out $100 worth of merch from him and it's been since May 7th that I paid him. Anyone have his phone number?
  • cant you get his contact info from ebay?
  • BTW, here's the original thread about his games:

Also, Erik or Hogie, please use the following form to get David's phone number for me:

If it's legit, I'll try and see what's up.

  • PM sent to ya Dain
  • Got it, thanks -- I'll call later on after he's likely awake. It's ironic the date he created that account... just a few days after I paid him for a sealed Numberland.
  • I thought about suspending his email account, but if I did that, he wouldn't get any ebay messages, etc, so I'll wait to see if I can get ahold of him or his parents. If that number fails, I'll find it another way image
  • It just doesn't make sense to me.?.? Why sell a Fisher Price Fire House Rescue and then run with the .99 cents.... Why would he sell these items that do not fetch a ton of money? Why not sell something of more value? Link
  • Well, at one point, that game was fetching a good amount. I think it's weird that he's got his store still open. That would indicate to me that he has a bill with ebay that likely hasn't been paid either.
  • I've found another number for either his father or grandfather that I'll try as well.
  • I have his cell # if anyone wants it. I talked with him a few times, makes this even more shocking!!!

  • I'm not defending him here, as I have never done a transaction with Hounder...but it is possible that someone hijacked his account.  In any case, just another reason to ONLY pay with PAYPAL and ONLY pay with a CREDIT CARD so that if you need to you can always dispute it with your credit card company.

I'm sorry for everyone's loss on here.  I had a similar situation happen to me about 6 months ago where I was almost out $700 for a Stadium Events CIB that was never shipped to me.  I luckily was able to dispute the channels to get most of my money back.
  • You have to know David's history though. He is known to disappear like this, and has done so a few times. You would think he would know if someone hacked his account to some degree at least. He doesn't even check his email that much. He could get in contact with the people he owes stuff easy enough. Public libraries have free internet access and I am sure he has some friend that would allow him to use a PC for a few mins to set things right. I guess we will find out soon enough cause some phone calls will be happening soon.

  • I'm kinda wandering off-topic here, but I've had 2 paypal disputes in the past, one of them, the seller finally got around to shipping stuff about 2 months later, the other, nothing ever became of it (luckily it was only for a few bucks). Anyways, I can't seem to get rid of the damn things from my paypal account. So every time I log in, I have the big banner on top saying "Your account has open issues. Click here to resolve" or whatever. In the side bar is FAQ's, one of which is "How do I cancel a claim" and the answer is "...by clicking the Cancel Complaint button". Well that sounds easy enough, only problem is the is no %#$@&; cancel complaint button anywhere! WTF!
  • Holy Smokes! Wait till Wizard sees this thread. I think he's out like $250 or something as of right now. I'd like to think Hounder's just having some sort of personal issues, but the date of that eBay account's creation makes this all seem a little dubious - at best.
  • Well I would like to try to give him the benefit of he doubt as everytime I've talked to him he seems like a good guy. Although there have been a few things he has done that I have had issues with. Wouldn't you think if he was going to pull something he would have listed one of or both of the mystical 2 SE boxes he claims to have and ran with that money? Or maybe he thought people would send the cops after him if it were like $1000+ items and not $100's in question? All I know is this really sucks for everyone including him!!
  • I posted the link over at nesworld for Wizard(he is going to be pissed).

This really sucks, because I liked hounder.

I had a really good trade with him around a year or two ago,got a minty CIB castle of deceit from him.

I remember though the last year he was spending money like crazy. He was buying only sealed and CIB of rare games and paying top dollar for them.

I remember at some point he had like 5 cib taggin dragons and a bunch of color a dinosaurs. He`s also the one that probably spent too much on a stadium events box.

He probably got badly in dept and doesn`t know what to do.
  • man thats freakin insane. i talked to him on AIM a few months ago and he seemed cool. Looks like hes trying to rip some peeps off for some quick cash under a different name? Notice he pulled the SE manual auction? he was selling a factory sealed dusty diamons for a while too??? any idea what that went for and if it he ripped someone off?? either way this is all screwed up?
  • I know a link about this was already posted at NESWorld, but try not to talk about this on other boards until anything is certain.

Also - this make me wonder - did he really have 2 copies of the Stadium Events box? He said he did and I took his word that he did, but never saw any pictures or anything to prove that he had them. Nor do I recall anybody selling 2 copies of them (didn't he get them at DP?). It's like he just mystically had them one day.

Honestly I really doubt it. I had a couple good trades with him but the last six months he's seemed really, really unreliable. I just don't have time for it.

He sold the dusty Diamonds but it only sold for $36 dollars I believe... If you check out his feedback, people have already left negatives and you can see what games they bought...
  • New Hounder ID? He did claim to have a sealed jungle book at the same time he mentioned the Numberlands (one of which dain bought). Just a hunch but you don't see that many sealed jungle books so....

  • DEFINITELY a scam -- look at his one feedback, it's from the mcdev88 guy, who stole those Chubby Cherub images.
  • is that mcdev guy Hounder as well?

  • That's honestly what I'm starting to wonder. Erik is bidding on the vintagegamingstore seller's MUSCLE box, so maybe he can do a request info on him.
  • HA... I'm not going to be bidding on it for long after reading this!!
