You should look into Inindo though, it's traditional with all the trimmings; turn based, menu based combat, random battles, etc.
Technically it doesn't get more traditional than dungeon crawling as Wizardry is hailed as the grandfather of all console & computer RPGs. But the gameplay's not for everyone so I can understand you not wanting to collect/play them.
I don't understand why people consider EVO an RPG. I had this one for a while before trading it and it kinda sucked. It was a platformer with HP = like meter and EP = $ to buy better stuff for you creature. No adventure at all and the only point to it was get through the levels and you had to become stronger to do it...

Not that my opinion is the end all be all of RPG collecting. But dammit, it should be.
