The Neverending Story SHOULD Have Had A NES Game (What Other Movies Do You Wish Had A NES Release)

So, most movie based games released on the NES were pretty hated. But I always thought Neverending Story would have made an amazing platformer. Also, the 8 bit tunes could've been cool with the theme song. Any 80's flicks you wish had a NES release?

  • I have always wanted a Salo game, myself.

Unless you count Bart vs the Space Mutants.

Ah, The Magic Glasses. Another classic.

  • There are just so many movies/franchises that deserved BETTER games than to get hung up on what movies didn't get one.

    Goonies, Ghostbusters, Transformers...

But to answer the OP anyway:

Big Trouble in Little China could make an awesome adventure/beat-em-up.

    The Thing

    Escape from NY

Lots of Kurt Russell movies could have made fun games.
  • Halloween could have been cool to go along with Friday The 13th and Nightmare On Elm Street on the NES....which I honestly like.

  • Breakfast Club

An 8-Bit rendition of 'Don't You (Forget About Me)' would be awesome. Plus the gameplay would probably have nothing to do with the movie which would truly fit into a perfect LJN game.

"Hey man do you want to come over? I got the new Breakfast Club game!"

"Radical! I want to be Brian!"

"No one wants to be Brian, not even Brian."
  • Perhaps they are a little bit too old, any perhaps I am assuming somebody could actually make an NES movie game that wouldn't suck total ass, but it would have been great to see Romancing The Stone/Jewel of the Nile, or Beverly Hills Cop 1 or 2. I can imagine in my head how Coming To America could totally work as an NES game too. I can already picture the levels to a Ferris Bueller game too.

Really before we go making new NES movie games, I wish we could fix the ones that already exist. Back To The Future doesn't deserve the abortions we call NES games that it received.

    Go play Study Hall .

And in answer to the OP, Erik the Viking! Oh wait...

Bringing up redundant threads on a site based on consoles released thirty years ago we are all still making threads about?

Wow, that one makes me want to track down the unreleased Aliens game...

  • How about CRAP 80's movies the could've been good NES games. Like Howard The Duck

    Ghoulies

    Critters

  • Ghoulies and Critters aren't crap, you should see the ripoffs of THOSE! Munchies and Hobgoblins (although the MST3K episode of this one is superb, one of my absolute favorites!) immediately spring to mind.

Ha! Ya, to be honest it's hard for me to hate anything 80's.

Same here, although Return of the Living Dead Part II has got to be one of the shittiest movies I have ever seen. It fails on every single level. Yet it still sits on my shelf for some ungodly reason.
  • Eddie and The Cruisers 2 (don't hate, it's actually a good movie)

I know it's not 80s but I always thought The Crow (1994) would have made a great video game. Great soundtrack and good story even though Brandon Lee (lead actor) died near the end of filming.
  • At least he didn't go out making any of the sequels. Woof!
  • The AVGN recently pointed out how the Crow didn't get a game, but its crappy sequel got a crappy game.
  • Krull, Time Bandits, and Ice Pirates.

True, the sequels were pretty bad. Although, had he survived I'm sure the 2nd movie would have been much different.

They're working on a new one which is supposed to reboot the series from the start...

  • Krull made it to atari 2600 lol

Krull had a 2600 game.... Its actually surprisingly faithful to the movie... except the damn spider web screen is a pain in the ass!
  • Krull needed the SNES RPG treatment, would have been so epic.

    beat me to it!
  • it's the only 2600 game I own! It was inherited from my neighbor 20+ yrs ago. Have never played it and has always been a mystery to me as a kid!
  • The Princess Bride would make an awesome Zelda style adventure game.
  • A lot of beat'em ups and platformers being suggested, how about a RPG? Debbie Does Dallas
  • Shows how well I keep up with Atari.
