Goonies Video Deon Japan

This game came in a lot of 9 games I bought this week in Singapore.

I know it's a pirated version and I also know the history behind Goonies 1 and 2.

It says Goonies on the top and at first I thought there should be a 60pin to 72 pin adaptor inside and therefore I screwed it open.

I have Googled a lot to find the same cartridge but was unsuccesful.

The NES that came with it needs some repairs so I havent been able to play the game yet, but my curiosity is getting the best of me

Does anyone know more about this?

  • The sticker is from the company that produced the Whirlwind Manu line of bootleg games. They distributed across Asia, South America, etc. Going from what someone had once told me (from South America), the company produced the parts and they were assembled at the local level. See the LC01 on the label? There are literally hundreds (probably 5-600) different games in that line of games, ranging from LA01-LG (or is it LH, I forget).

As for the game itself, it is a pirate version of Goonies. Due to being so many games from Whirlwind Manu, and NES pirates being less common that Famicom ones, of course it isn't terribly surprising that you haven't turned any others of this up on the web.

    But for the curious:

and more digging would yield more results.

As for price, I would say $20 is fair, though I am sure the more insane collectors on here and elsewhere would pay more for it (especially since Goonies was never officially released on NES). It's cool that it is a true NES game, not a Famicom cart with a converter.
