Is this supposed famicom/NES combo worth it at $30?

the guy selling this claims it plays famicom games through the top slot and regular PAL NES(I live in europe) through the front slot

I've been burnt one too many times with systems like this, they always break or don't do what they're sellers claim they're supposed to be doing

the guy's asking price for this is around $30 which is quite a bit of money by our standards



do I dare try my luck with this since my famiclone is long dead or should I just stick to my regular ol' NES?

I wanted to start collecting for the famicom too, they sell famiclones everywhere here but these new famiclones are terrible and i doubt they'd even play famicom games like the old ones did.

    The new Famiclones are crap, this one looks like an old one. I'd say go for it. If I saw it for $30, I'd easily pick it up as this isn't some modern creation.

    Looks like a beefier version of the Generation NEX clone.



    I'd say if it uses real Famicom hardware, it might be a decent deal.

    I'd buy that for $30, and I don't even have a PAL TV.

    Here's the insides of the same model of famiclone. It's not NOAC so that's a plus but it does use a clone PPU/GPU and not the UMC ones I know more about. This one is missing the fami pins but you can see where they'd be on the board.

    is it an actual hardware clone? If so I'm definitely getting it

    The TA-02N and TA-03N chips are clones of the NES PPU and CPU respectively.

    It's likely an older clone which is a good thing.



    The clones with discrete PPU/GPU chips typically have better compatibility than ones with use NOAC (Nintendo on a chip, all one chip for both).

    You can tell that it's an older clone just by looking at it though. The build quality between the old clones and newer ones is so different, it is quite obvious.
