The final Wii game ever, a true rarity

  • I just wanted to post something that might be of interest to those of use actively obtaining all of the rares while it is still reasonable to do so, in this case the VERY rare Atrevete A Sonar and Lucha Libre Heroes del Ring. I've obtained a sealed Atrevete and a CIB Lucha, and wanted to share some images of them here. To note, Atrevete has popped up at least a few times on Ebay with fair BINs, but I have never ever seen a copy of Lucha Libre on Ebay. Atrevete has got to be at least an 8 in terms of rarity, but Lucha is a high 9/9.5 in terms of rarity, and notably more difficult to find copies of at present (who knows if a bunch of NOS could turn up of either). Lucha Libre has got to be the TRUE rarest confirmed NTSC Wii release, and as somebody who has made a habit of getting copies of all the rare Wii games this particular one was by far the most difficult to track down a copy of. I have several images of them, and plan to post them shortly, so fellow collectors here know exactly what to look for.

A few notes of interest: A sealed copy of Atrevete comes in the oversized plastic outer box that is NOT the same as those found with Let's Sing 2016, but is apparently unique to this title, and which also has a hangtab built into it. I can take more images of this if anybody is interested. It also has two sections of special Wii-branded tape sealing it along each side on top, and what may or may not be special Mexican stickers along one side of the box. The game itself appears to be wrapped in some sort of colored plaid fabric within, alongside the microphone.

Lucha Libre comes in one of those damnable eco-cases with the holes in it, and I very nearly poked a hole in the insert twice. The only other notable feature it has is that the art insert is reversible, as the back is a small poster. See images above for details. The particular copy I found had a sticker on it at some point, the insert, disc, and manual are in fine shape. I'm seriously considering swapping the awful case out with a better one.

As an aside, as far as NTSC Wii games go, here's what I feel are the rarest in terms of sealed games (I have all of these sealed except the first two):

    1) Sudoku Ball (if released)

    2) Lucha Libre Heroes del Ring

    3) Atrevete a Sonar

    4) Cyberbike with the bike

    5) American Mensa Academy

    6) Let's Sing 2016
  • Welp go ahead and add me to the list of Let's Sing 2016 bundle owners. Located the last one in Florida in an Orlando area GameStop after some sleuthing and assistance from a friend on the inside.
  • ^^ Let's Sing 2016, nice work man. I also landed both of those Latin titles in the past 3 months. For now, if you have money and can find a Mexican seller to work with they are obtainable. But in years to come, anyone looking is going to be disappointed trying to find them.

As for #1 on your top 6 list, which you said Sudoku Ball Detective with a (?). I can tell you it was never released in NTSC and the original rumor was for either a US release of the game for DS and/or the PAL version on Wii.

There are at least 3-5 other Wii games equally as rare as Lucha Libre. When they come out of the woodwork, that's the question.
  • I agree with 2-5 at this point in that order. I still don't think Sudoku Ball Detective came out, so I don't put that on my list. I find it hard to put Lets Sing 2016 that high though as they seem to be obtainable and more keep popping up. At this point, I think I'd still put Crash Car Racer and maybe even Sprint Cars ahead of it. It's really hard to tell though as lots of people are searching for / selling Lets Sing, while the others have kind of fallen by the wayside atm.
  • I'm not convinced Sudoku Ball Detective came out either, but where is the code and upc for the US version coming from on gamefaqs?

    http://www.gamefaqs.com/wii/955111-sudoku-ball-detective/data

Googling the UPC 813582010097 seems to garner a decent amount of results for it. I know it's not being confused with the PAL version because the PAL upc is 8717545402436.

I've also found pages for it on jjgames.com and even walmart.com. I'm thinking it was almost released and then cancelled?
  • It was released on DS as the exact same game and was also released for Wii in PAL, so there has always been confusion, originally stemming from an article on jjgames.com citing it as "rare". It was an article that did not verify this and thus has created years of misbelief. I know for fact it was not released.

Crash Car and Sprint Cars are both indeed rare, but I think Super Karts is the toughest of the 8; I also believe Ivy the Kiwi is now headed for being impossible to find. FWIW, I remember Mensa was once available and now look at it. This is where many more titles are headed; and without a doubt, until titles like Violetta are added to the list, I won't be convinced the listmaker knows everything on the Wii.

And I agree about Let's Sing. With how many titles are trickling out, I have a hard time saying it is rarER than a title like Lucha Libre or Mensa in which fact are truly rare.
  • Boy, did I come across something interesting today. So I was browsing around the interwebs, looking around for more information on Let's Sing. I ended up on Amazon.ca and was reading some reviews for the game. I couldn't believe my eyes when I read this:

    image

Say what!1! Nudity in a Wii game? Nudity in a game that got pulled from the shelves. Let that sink in for a second.
  • Damnnn i wonder if this the true real reason they pulled it!? Anyone with the game willing to play it to find the nudity?? ;p
  • Since when is a guy's chest nudity? And why would anyone be offended by that?
  • Maybe its a female
  • I didn't see full frontal nudity in John Legend - All of Me video on youtube. Although it does come close, naked showering girl, side boob, ect. Without playing the game it's hard to say for sure. It's not impossible these had access to a uncensored version, but I can't find a video to confirm that and don't want to open my sealed copy.
  • But as you were saying XYZ, is this the reason it got recalled? Seems just as likely if not more likely then a crappy microphone.
  • Thanks so much for the congrats, all   And yes, it is definitely still possible to obtain these, provided you have a Mexican contact, and at least $150USD, which is what I was able to obtain mine for. A while back now I messaged several sellers on Ebay that from time to time have had the Mexican games, and two turned out to have at least one copy of them:

    http://www.ebay.com/usr/detodomx?_trksid=p2047675.l2559

...was the first to respond, saying he had a spare that he had had to go out of his way to locate, and we arranged a direct sale. He mentioned having another copy, which may be the one that was listed earlier today and sold VERY quickly at a $150 BIN:

*please do not post auctions that have ended within two weeks

...I hope somebody here got that one. It is the only Ebay listing I have ever seen for the NTSC Wii version, and only now just recently appeared.

    The other seller is:

    http://www.ebay.com/usr/videogamesmx

...who said he only had one copy, which he was not selling (which I understand fully), and that he is looking for more.

Between these copies, mine, and those mentioned elsewhere, there's only around 10 known to exist of Lucha Libre. This is gonna be a really interesting title to follow.

I mentioned Sudoku Ball above because, aside from the UPC info and website product pages, I've heard anecdotal evidence that a few collectors had either seen or even obtained US copies. Plus, the following grossly outdated pricecharting article indicates that at least one copy did sell some time ago on Ebay:

    http://blog.pricecharting.com/2009/08/most-expensive-wii-games.html

...I would love to see that purported listing, or even just a screenshot. At the very least, US box art exists. I really do want to keep an open mind and not rule out the chance that a few copies got out somehow.
  • There might be nudity in part of Let's Sing 2016, and that's the real reason it was recalled? That actually seems well within the realm of possibility I'll have to check one of my open copies for that, if this is so it would be the Wii equivalent of the Panesian games, and could really add to the notoriety of this title.

Mkay, let's not kid ourselves. If anyone thinks for a moment that there's anything less than at least 1k copies out there, then they're just kidding themselves. This is the Wii we're talking about, there are NO US released Wii games with less than 1k copies in existance, there just aren't. It'll simply take some times to find the other copies, and or a random warehouse find.

  • ^ maybe, maybe not. Most were probably destroyed. A while back nintendotwizer made a real good point, in that the only hope lets sing had was for a patch... but.the game is called lets sing 2016.. and its already out of date as a result. My guess is maximum destroyed them rather than liquidate possibly at nintendos demand. As for 1k copies, i disagree. All the top 6 we are discussing are probably under 1000.

And im still waiting 25 years later for all the still missing cheetahmen 2, caltrons, and stadium events that are supposedly to be found.

We'll probably have to agree to disagree. We aren't in the NES days anymore, and Let's Sing 2016 was the Wii's best chance at having a game with less than 1k copies in existance, but with how quickly copies having been popping up for sale in the last month or so, I seriously doubt that the majority of the copies of Let's Sing 2016 were actually destroyed.

  • ebgames canada still has a listing for Let's Sing 2016 with Microphone on their website. When you click on "store availability" quite a few stores show that they have limited stock. I remember checking this before i found mine, and only two store locations showed that in Ontario. Now there are numerous. If any Canadians want it, it might be worth calling some to see. They can ship between stores, so you don't have to travel. There seems to be quite a few in Toronto.

  • Ok somebody with an opened copy has to try this out... Has to!

I guarantee if this is indeed true, that would be the reason why the game got recalled.
  • One of the rarest Wii games that I never see mentioned is 101 in 1 Sports Party Megamix. In the last year I haven't seen a single copy up on ebay that wasn't the same two disc only copies going for $150.

It used to get brought up alot more back in 2013.

    Here's two recent

the second of which used the wrong picture, but had "sports" in the title listing and description.

Of course, there is also a recent auction that went for stupid money.  What the heck?  Who mentioned this that got a handful of people frothing at the mouth?

For anyone after this title, check for it being listed poorly.  There's a much more common 101 in 1 Party Megamix (note the lack of "sports").

Wow, I bought a complete copy of this back in February for $30, and I was afraid that was too high.

But what the hell, $138.50 is ridiculous. I wouldn't pay more than $50 for this thing now.

This game seems to be a lot more common in Canada than the US (I got mine from a Canadian eBay seller). EBGames sells it for $14.99, and it looks like there's a copy available to purchase straight from their website right now. The map search also shows a handful scattered across Canada, specifically Ontario.

Holy shit it's true. I hope it's cool if I post censored screenshots?

Starting to think that it wasn't just mic issues that pulled this one off the shelves...

Oh nice, I hadn't even tried to look it up on ebgames.  I've been keeping my eye out for this title for a few years now, but only when i'm in shops, and hadn't run across it yet.  Maybe i'll stop by the belleville location next time im through.  It could be a canadian thing, there are a few titles that seem to be easier to find here.  Although that could also be because there just aren't people that care to look here either.

Damn dude, that lets sing boobies!  Good on you for finding that!  Wow!

  • nudity in a lets sing wii game... welp, now the value will probably sky rocket
