This is the problem with modern rarity. No one saved Stadium Events. Now people think when something is recalled, Better stock up. Sell while the market is high.
I think there is something to this. What if a popular gaming magazine in the 1980s said "Stadium Events has been recalled, keep an eye out for this one collectors". I get the feeling there'd be five times as many on the market now. They'd stay in the back room, wouldn't get sent in. Some stores wouldn't care and just sell off their left over stock due to increased demand. If this recall flew under the radar this game would be a top tier rare. Since it didn't, I really wonder where it will land in terms of scarcity. Top 10, top 20? Only time will tell, but I'd love to see the market for it 10 years from now.
I agree as well, although I wonder how much disc fragility vs cartridge stability and losing copies from scratching/damage would have an affect on rarity of DVD games. I also know many people today that toss old dvd format games rather than sell them, back in the 80's, 90's it was much more of a save it for another day society. On a side note, how long was stadium events sold for? This game was 1 week, 2 tops.
I know this post bought to light the recall, but how many buyers actually were able to jump on it before they got sent back or were removed from store? Either way I'm not too worried, the copies I got were to repay a debt I doubt I would have gotten back anyways, so really they were free lol. I've been able to help out a few local collectors, so everyone wins. I think value will solely depend on the number of people that want this for a collectors piece, i.e. last game made, shrouded mystery recall, or need it to complete the huge set. It's a small gamble, should be fun.
At least it's not THE last game, since Just Dance 2017 has been confirmed for the Wii.
I know its been "confimred" but part of me is wondering (being doubtful) if the game will actually come out on the Wii platform. Who knows, just have to wait and see.

Well it's available for preorder at EB Games, Amazon, Gamestop, etc... Maybe they'll cancel eventually but for now it's confirmed and should be the last Wii game.
Too many copies of lets sing are surfacing. Its a bust imo. Im thinking mensa and lucha are way rarer. Every collector and their mama is able to land a copy of lets sing, but can the same be said for 2 aforementioned titles?
Yes the Let's Sing hype will wear off and it'll flatten out way below the hype. See The Guy Game on Xbox, this has already been done before. Got recalled, naked underage girl (17), had some hype and then fizzled out. Still holds value for an Xbox game but nowhere near a holy grail or speculative hype status.
Yup, some dude flooding the eBay market plus all of the big scores in this thread, there are a lot more out there than people suspected. Maybe "a lot" is being extreme, let's say "more than previously suspected."
Judging by Mensa's last selling price of over $300 I'd say it's safe to safe people think it is more rare. I'm hard pressed to say why it is worth $300.
Crazy that this is happening with Wii collecting. I thought a lot of these 'rare' games wouldn't spike as much as people would generally ignore them unless they were going for a full set. Is there that many people going for a full set or are people just trying to play the market by hoarding rare games?
Seems strange with some of these Wii games like Ivy the Kiwi. I've seen that game four or five times in the 'wild' and have come across two copies in lot buys. Doesn't seem all that rare, but I guess it is at least hard to find according to current eBay listings.
Makes you wonder about the Wii U. I can already name two or three games that basically have zero active listings on eBay. Junk games or not, with such a small library there will definitely be a lot of full set collectors making these even harder to find down the road.
My friend is finding very little problems finding titles below5 bucks. Tons of 2-4 dollar games. I think he said he was up to 372 for wii. He has pretty much all the core first party and mainstream expensive 3rd party titles. So its pretty much the obscure and randoms to go. The wii feels like its 80 percent obscure titles to me lol. I see games ive never heard of on the wii weekly.
It's easy for you Americans, but it isn't the same for us Canadians.
That's not to say its a barren wasteland, but finding under $5 games at ebgames (the canadian branch of gamestop) just isn't as easy. ALot of our shovelware games are still $4.99, 7.99, 9.99 and above. On top of that, the deals (b1g1) aren't as common. I'd also imagine that there aren't as many games per ebgames as there are per gamestop in the US.

Where are they landing them from on demand? At the moment, like any of the other rare games, you're at the mercy of randomly seeing one at Gamestop/EBgames, knowing a guy that knows a guy, or buying the one on ebay or Amazon for whatever the asking price is. This isn't any different than the other rare games, but saying anyone can grab a copy on demand is a stretch. Availability has a lot to do with how long from release date it is when you look. I remember seeing several people in my area lock down Fritz Chess, Dokapon, Mensa etc within 12 months of release when these games still randomly surface in the wild or online. After collectors get a hold of remaining loose copies, available copies dry up and it drives up the price. There will probably be several games that have sold less than 10k in NA within the past 18 months that will become rare down the road as available copies get scooped in the coming months, and the only way you are completing your Wii set is by paying the asking price in the future. People need to take into account how long a game has been released for to judge how easy it is to come by. Come back in 5 years and tell me this game is easy to find. Valuable? Probably not, easy to find, very doubtful. How many copies do you think it really sold within 1-2 weeks before it was yanked? Take into account people that returned it for a refund.

They've already had a couple bogo free or bogo 1/2 off on DS/Wii games, so stock is already low around here. Most of the 'gems' are gone around my place and all the stores have the same shit shovelware mixed in with a few 1st party titles. I'm expected to show up to EB one day and the Wii and DS games will just be gone. There probably only a few hundred games left at each store, which isn't that many. DS is even slimmer pickings.

Lol that just proves my point. It's only been 6 months since this released, and I knew a guy. I'm sure there MIGHT be someone else in the know in a position to save a stack or two, but most people won't risk losing their job to steal a bunch, as I know for a fact from friends that work inside the industry once they are sent back they are highly tracked until disposal. I'm sure there are a bunch of other copies floating around, but I did state that 5 years from now my guess is that this and several other recent games with low numbers will be hard to find, although probably not super vaulable.
These were basically free, and there were 2 pictures, hardly a flash. It was pretty exciting of getting a hold of some games that would help some friends out in their collections, games that shouldn't really be available. There's been countless posts over the years of people showing cool finds, I'm not sure why my 2 pictures wrinkled you so much My entire point is that there are probably lots of games that seem common or easy to find right now that have been released in the past 2-3 years, that will get very scarce for those completing sets in the next 5 - 10 years. I love checking out VGcharts reguarlarly (yes not always super accurate) to try and suggest what these might be for when I'm out and about looking. After collecting over the years it's been a decent indicator of how little there might be of a game floating out there. Usually a game that sells sub-100k in NA but is notorious for whatever reason, fun to play or has a following are generally the games that skyrocket down the road. Trying to predict rare games on a massive collection of games is part of the fun of collecting, it's pretty thrilling to get a game for relatively cheap and watch the value grow over time after getting in on the ground floor.
Owning 2 copies I can understand but 12 or more then your motives become clear as day. If and when their value ever goes up to the value of stadium events I have some swamp land to sell you. The biggest problem doesn't lie in it's rarity but rather "Time". "Time" will tell if this game goes up or stays the same.
Hey Koko let me ask you since you love to explore the high point of collecting for Let's Sing 2016 let's explore the low point what "if" the game doesn't go up but rather stagnates and or falls then what are you going to do with your "12" copies sell them at a loss or leave them for the next generation just wondering because you have to be ready for the flip side where the gamble you take doesn't pan out?
Here is a hint. People dont like seeing 12 copies of a game that people want. Nothing wrong with it, but the optics of it arent good. You should have just showed you got one to pick up and kept your mouth shut on the others. Alot of people dont like to see bragging on a hoard of items like this. I personally dont care, but if you dont know why people kinda jumped on you a bit, I guess youll never understand.
Clear as day? So a friend says there is a shipping box being sent back to be destroyed, I get them for basically free, but I should decline all 12 and only take 2 for........reasons? I've already stated several times I'm not sitting on 12, I've already traded 6 to friends that are going for a full set locally for what amounts to less than retail because I was able to help them out. I'm essentially sitting on 5 for a rainy day where I either give them away because they are worthless or sell them and ride off into the sunset of retirement. I've also stated previously I don't expect the value to reach any large value, barely over retail actually just somewhat hard to track down, but the beautiful thing is no one has a crystal ball, it's the future that makes it fun I would however like to hear more about the swamp land you have for sale and how you came into it........
P.S. I've collected for a while, I do understand why people get upset. I suppose I'm just different, I see people picking up Nintendo cabinets here for $100 and feel happy for them. I see people getting massive hauls at garage sales for far more value then what I posted and I'm happy for them. Different strokes for different folks I guess lol.

no, he wasnt saying that. Listen its not wrong with what you did. Its the way it looks and rubs people the wrong way. Learn some tact. Show that you got one since you wanted to share you got it. People would have said congrats and moved on. Then keep your mouth closed on the rest. People have extra copies of things all the time. No one is going to bash you for getting 1 copy. You are leaving yourself open for bitter people/ people who irrationally hate hoarders when you flash a bunch of the same thing that people want
Totally understand I'm not new to forums or other collectors, although my post was 2 pictures and sharing what I thought was a cool story of how I got them, to add to the other posts here. There was zero bragging in anything I said. I suppose I dont see a difference between this and people posting they got Earthbound, Hagane, and several other rares all CIB with a fun story behind it like I've seen from so many others, all good. I used to post here years ago but stopped and just read from time to time, I guess I had forgotten how fast and easy it is for people to get negative over a simple discussion or picture when they post behind a screen, no worries.
I can provide a little more insight on the current Let's Sing 2016 market.
I'm sure everyone here has noticed an eBay seller listing copy after copy of this title in the last week or two. I was curious about this and did some research.
The seller is an outfit out of Salt Lake City called The NPS Store. This outfit is a liquidator dealing in among other things big box retail overstock and returns. I looked up their web presence and tracked down a phone number for their online store. After a bit of friendly chat they disclosed to me that these games were Best Buy recall stock that got stuck in limbo not being sent back but also removed from their systems (explained to me this happens a lot with Best Buy and the stuff in limbo is liquidated alongside return pallets).
They disclosed to me the total number of units they had: 21.
So once they sell off the 21 I'm expecting this game to probably have a considerably less frequent availability. If you need one for a set, this is probably the right time to get one. Just my opinion. Full honesty disclosure: I bought one to have if I decide to try for a full set.

I believe that there are probably about 100 or so bundles still in the wild in the GameStop system waiting to be discovered, and that a few hundred copies exist in the hands of those who know the game was recalled.
This game IMHO won't be a high dollar game in 2016. In 2020? I suspect it will be a very high dollar game (sealed copies, I suspect used copies will be worthless).

I think there's a lot of people going for the Wii full set. I'm having kind of a hard time finding titles beneath the 5$ mark, in my area at least.
I'm unsure if they have gamestop in your area... but that place is a gold mine for sub $5 Wii games.

Just my 2 cents
I just found one at a Gamestop. I don't even know how that's still possible.
Especially since it's not even in their system, at least online. Nice find!
Got this today. Had been searching for one for awhile and glad I finally snagged one .
