  • Listing's down- jokes over Basically, I just had to see what the reaction would be from y'all. I really hope nobody actually thought the listing was serious, lol. I really do have three copies of this game, and will post images later today, including of the UPC's. I'll be happy to sell or trade them too, if anyone's interested there. More to follow...

Updated: Here's the UPC and packaing images with some observations. To note, the UPC code on the actual game disc case for both the loose "new" copy and the two bundle copies is exactly the same. The various UPC stickers on the bundles do differ, though it could be the doing of random retailers, or one might be the PS4 bundle that somehow happened to have the Wii game included by mistake.

Loose "new" copy from Gameflop UPC:

Bundle copy "A"- has multiple UPCs and the microphone is the same plain one as depicted on the box:

Bundle copy "B" has fewer UPC stickers, and includes a microphone that is different than the one depicted on the box. It seems to be a Logitech manufactured, Konami branded mic with a black plastic bump that would normally have volume controls yet has none on this one. In all other regards it is exactly the same as the plain microphone depicted on the box, which (having held both next to each other) was certainly made by the same manufacturer (presumably Logitech).

  • Two problems with your post you camera or phone camera sucks and second tell me again when did Konami and maximum games became the same company .
  • Ok I'll keep my sarcasm to a minimum. First you clearly were born before the advent of Cliff notes and grew up reading picture books. Next there are no "mistakes" in life only bad and poor Choices and Decisions one makes. Ok you have 3 legit copies of Let's sing 2016 wii and I'm going to safely assume you got those games at Gamestop. The PS4 bundled microphone is that just a PS4 bundles Microphone no "Mistake" no bamboozle, no hocus pocus just "you" as a consumer and "Speculator" trying to "frankenstein a Complete Wii Mic Bundle, I'm not mad but that is just the "fact" so far. Second your second bundle is a Wii mic bundle without the Microphone but the Gamestop you went to did not have the official one and instead replaced it with a Karaoke Revolution Microphone and send you on your merry $$ eyes way. So in review you got 3 non bundled copies one mic that doesn't belong there and a PS4 mic that "Maybe" the same as the wii microphone bundle that needs confirmation and then you could essentially frankenstein together to create a Wii bundle. I think I covered pretty much everything so keep the condition of your games in mind and "Price" and "Value" them accordingly end PSA. GLWS and Trade .

Actually, I think I recognize that first one (his exhibit A with the extra stickers) from another eBay listing. I thought about snatching it up but it was poorly listed as "Accessory Microphone for Let's Sing 2016" or something similar and it wasn't clear if it was a Wii version, PS4 version, or even included the game at all. I agree with you that the Logitech/Konami mic is definitely not a variant - it's just a Karaoke Revolution mic.

Is anybody on this thread who has grabbed a copy going for a full Wii set or just buying it on pure speculation/as a curiousity? I have my doubts that this game will be worth much of anything once the initial hype boost this thread has given it dies down, but I could be wrong. Could be another Stadium Events, but could just as easily be another Easter Bunny's Big Day. I could even see Maximum Games liquidating all the send-backs and basically flooding the market. Who knows.

When did this become the Neo-Geo Forums? I can assure you that the two bundle copies were NOT purchased in a physical store. They were both online buys- blind ones, actually. You don't have to believe me if you don't want to. The only copy I purchased at Gamestop is the loose one, which I kept the receipt for. And if I did want to try and Frankenstein together a bundle copy, the last thing I'd do is post the various UPCs and microphone images. I really do simply want to share information on this rarity, and possibly sell or trade them.

You are correct in this- thank you so much. I think I still have the listing itself- though sadly, the other bundle listing seems to have vanished already. I took a chance on the listing hoping it would be the Wii version- and when I opened it it did indeed include the Wii NTSC version. So, I assumed everything else was in order there, too. It wasn't until I read that the PS4 version has the same exact outer box and microphone box that I began to doubt. Even so though, it is exactly how it arrived to me- and definitely NOT from Gamestop. I never saw the whole bundle in any Gamestops around here.

  • A couple of things. Firstly, I do not believe you listed those on eBay as a "joke". I believe you were serious and that is why you went out and hunted down 3 copies - at 50+ each, you spent 150 bucks... for a "joke"?

Secondly, I won't discount the Konami mic issue. I believe there may be more to it. Only because I just had an eerily similar thing happen myself. I picked up another very uncommon and late release singing game called "The Voice". I found a bundled version for Wii on clearance at everybody's favorite retailer, GameStop. The bundle was sold to me new but as you know, GS opens bundles and keeps the game and (usually) the accessory in a drawer behind the counter. Hey, they're a Fortune 500, and have rules that EVERY single GS has to abide by so this is fact. Anyways, once box got placed on counter, employee got out of drawer, a sealed copy of The Voice (by Activision) and a baggy mic, sealed as well. When I got home I took a closer look and noticed the mic was by Konami, exactly the same one as yours. I conclude 1 of 2 possibilities: 1) the Konami mic is like an industry standard that other company's license for their singing games or 2) there was a mic swap at the GS, where an employee misplaced mics or they got swapped somehow (maybe in their messy drawers)? Either way, it has piqued my interest to say the least.

Next, I hate to be a braggart, but I did the impossible over the weekend. I was at several GS's for their B2G1 sale on ALL Wii/X360/PS3 used games. I have been to this store numerous times since Let's Sing came out, especially since I learned of the recall. It was nowhere to be found all those times. Then I go in and bamm, my eyeballs ejaculated as I saw it sitting there in the miniscule NEW section of Wii games. I thought I was seeing things. When the employee found the disc behind the counter, I was in total shock. Nonetheless, I now have 2 copies, one is a sealed bundle, the other an opened new copy from GS. I left the GS sticker on the case because I want to investigate the sticker placement date. I still can't figure out how they didn't have it, even after I asked at least once, maybe twice and then it suddenly is there. Gives me hope that more will be found. My guess, employee pulled it for recall but never mailed it back to central, it sat in back room for a month then another employee who didn't know about the recall, put it back out.

Lastly, I went to another GS that I have been to only one time (bit of a drive) and asked if they had a Let's Sing 2016 for Wii laying around. Employee immediately said, "I know what game you're talking about. IT GOT RECALLED. WE HAD TO SEND IT BACK." .......... and BAMMMMMM!!!! The first time I heard an employee say they knew about it and acknowledged the recall. Very interesting to say the least.

Yeah that was my "worry" for fellow Let's Sing speculators, that Maximum could liquidate these somehow down the road. Granted, the market for original Wii in retail is about as close to finished as possible, so its a small window they have to do so. I could see this game being shipped out to various Big Lots! stores or something and nary a collector realizes it for awhile.

I decided to grab it for kicks, its a rare situation where if it really does gain traction later on, I could sell it for a little extra $ for my actual collection. I so rarely do this because it so rarely pans out that way, but this title was intriguing enough with its "Stadium Events-esque" backstory. It helped that I used to be a Wii collector and stocked up on the speculative rares early on before they went up in price (though they never really went up all that much), so it piqued my curiosity. I may collect for the Wii again down the road, so it would be nice to have this title, even if it doesn't go way up.

To mr. Lets Sing 2016, you should list a single copy on ebay for bids...see what happens. You have three copies so your risk is relatively low. I'd be curious to see what it sells for.

  • ^ I don't see Maximum liquidating it considering what they have is a broken game. They will most likely be destroyed. Even if they patched every copy they got back, they'd have a hard time down the road selling a game with 2016 in the title. This game is as good as dead. I've seen a few games get liquidated to places like Big Lots and Deal$. The one I remember seeing a shit ton of was Chicken Shoot Blaster Bundle. But it works! I've never seen a broken game re-entered back into the market, 'cept whatever the hell happened with Disney's Infinity for 3DS.

I'm inclined to agree with you. If they went to the trouble to recall this item, I can't imagine they'd just put it back out there. Patching it seems quite unlikely too. It seems like a very obvious cut-your-losses type of situation.

I'm curious in situations like these how much people at, say, Maximum are clued into the instant collectability of a game like this now? What are the chances someone working whatever warehouse they use grabs a box of copies for later? I'd say pretty high...heck, they probably don't have to be too sneaky about it either, I could see someone there getting a "you can have them if you want, we were going to trash them anyway..." response.

  • I got a sealed one complete with Mic from Game Stop $49.99. I guess I'll just hang onto it until the time comes....not to
  • There was one GameStop within a 100-mile radius which still had a copy, and I was able to get it shipped to my usual store! I now have the dubious honor of owning Let's Sing 2016.

Unfortunately, the store that shipped it had discarded the case and inserts prior to my inquiry, so it is a disc-only copy (with a generic GameStop case). Nonetheless, the history behind it is pretty amusing and I'm glad to own a copy.

Is it the PS4 version? I've looked on their website and I don't see a listing for the Wii version anywhere.

  • Game Stop (in store) can look up within 100mile radius. It was taken down online
  • I finally got my hands on a copy last night! A CIB copy of just the game (not the bundle) popped up on eBay for $84 after shipping and I decided that I was done with this wild goose chase. Ideally I would have come across it at a Gamestop for $30 or however much it goes for, but I was expecting to have to pay triple digits for this thing so I have no complaints.

It's already opened so I'll definitely play test it when I get it. If there's any information you guys need about this game that would compromise a sealed copy, I'd be happy to find out for you.

EDIT: Hey, it looks like there's another copy that got listed for $94 shipped, if that's of interest to anybody.

  • Chasing a rabbit here but I know some felt Rodea should have been the last Wii game released. That game has had a ridiculous price drop over the oaat few months. Did the game suck or anyone know the deal for the price drop? TRU has the Wii u for $20 and the 3ds for $10.
  • That seems like a good deal actually, do you know if they are launch editions with the soundtrack or if they are reprints? I'd buy 2 3DS ones to get the free shipping if I knew they were Launch versions. Steep price drop worries me of a reprint though.

Edit: Ah what the heck, in for two, we'll see what I get.

The reviews for the game were pretty bad, and it looks like a bargain bin game IMO.  Everyone who wanted one probably already has it (and most kept it sealed,) and NIS just made too many for a market that usually only buys quality first party Nintendo games.  It's possible it'll end up being hard to come by down the line but it's not shocking to see it take the dip in price.

  • I think I'm gonna pick up both the Wii U and 3DS versions at TRU if that's the new prices. They lowered them (probably) because of poor sales. Last few times I was in TRU's I saw them both filled to the brim. Jone, the copies you'll get are the standard editions, but the Wii U will have a Wii disc and reversible artwork inside, which for 20$ is a damn good deal, 10 for 3DS even better!

I kinda disagree Rodea being a bargain bin game (at least the Wii version). The Wii U and 3DS versions are bad ports and I would see them get cheap down the line.

  • Picked up Rodea today at my TRU, bargain for two games!

You're clearly more than welcome to your opinion but imo the combination of horribly cheap looking production values, questionable in game art direction, (the packaging of the game is nice especially the limited edition though,) the janky gameplay I've watched on YouTube, and all of the bad reviews for this game tell me it's bargain bin action. Not Hello Kitty Kruisers bad but let's say "B" level game bargain bin bad. I'm not saying people can't like it.

EDIT:At $20 & $10 for the Wii U and 3DS ports it's tempting from a collector's POV but it's not enough for me to snag them I don't think.  Not with Star Fox coming out this week!

I heard the Wii version was actually pretty good, but the Wii U version sucked.

Can anybody who's played both confirm that?

I believe only the first print of Rodea included the Wii disc, so that's definitely a factor too.

I see where you come from. The game isn't bad perse but I can understand it's not everyone's cup of tea. Personally the Wii U and 3DS versions are horrendous and don't handle well but the Wii version is the best out all of them becasue well it's the original game while the others are cheaply-done ports.

I can confirm that. Do yourself a favor and avoid the Wii U version. The 3DS and Wii U versions compared to the Wii versoion have significant changes to it that you could almost say that they are completely different games. Also the difficulty varies as the Wii version has obstacles not present in the Wii U/3DS versions.

  • My copy from TRU today came with the Wii and U versions for anyone who's still interested in picking this up.

Be careful with discussing the gameplay of games you've only watched on Youtube. Actually playing the game is a different story. I've played through the whole game beginning to end on Dolphin. It's a lightgun platformer which, to the best of my knowledge, had never been done before. The pointer control scheme really makes it and the Wii U and 3DS versions are hot garbage without it. In addition, all of the bad reviews are for the Wii U and 3DS versions, not the Wii version. Once you actually get into it, it's some really frantic action that's pretty difficult to put down.

The Wii version was directed by Yuji Naka and made by his people from Prope, completed in 2010 but put on the backburner because Kadokawa, the publisher, didn't believe a new Wii game was commercially viable in 2010. The DNA of games like NiGHTS and Sonic Adventure is really noticable, even if they brought over the good with the bad like disorienting camera controls that take a lot of getting used to. I would say it's like a hybrid, like a Sonic Adventure where you almost never touch the ground and are constantly zipping from point to point. The Wii U and 3DS versions were butchered more or less remade from scratch by Kadokawa as a much slower, less arcade-like game without Naka and Prope's involvement. It went as far as Naka telling people on his Twitter at launch "Please play the Wii version instead". What's really embarrassing is that somehow the Wii U version is a port of the 3DS version and ends up having far worse colors and far more low-res textures than the Wii version which was meant for release 5 years prior. And if you can't enjoy a game with cheap-ass production values, what are you even playing games for? Some of the best games were made on a shoestring budget.

If Rodea came out for the Wii back in 2010 it would have fared much much better critically (reviewers didn't even review the Wii version so scores are skewed) and we'd be talking about it as a cult classic among the likes of Zack & Wiki and Dokapon Kingdom, I guarantee it. Also, as a sidenote, it's ridiculous how much the Wii game blows the Wii U game out of the water when played with Dolphin in a native 1080p resolution. Kaleidoscopic would be putting it lightly.

Thanks for the warning but I've played enough games in my life to know a stinker when I see one.  The gameplay vids look painful, the reviews are bad, and the art style stinks.  If you like the game that's great, I can choose not to purchase it because it doesn't look good to me.  I also don't think Nights OR Sonic Adventure are good games, and I've played those.  I didn't like them back in the day and they've only aged poorly. I'm not interested in battling with a garbage camera from 2009....which shouldn't even have been a problem then.

At no point did I say I don't play ANY games that have cheap looking production values, I said that the combination of this game's art style/direction stinks, the reviews are bad, and the let's plays (from sites I trust to help make my purchasing decisions) of this look terrible.  Not everyone is going to like every game you do.  You seem to need to understand this.

If Rodea came out in 2010 these are the Wii Games it would have had to contend with:

    Super Mario Galaxy 2

    Metroid: Other M

    Sin & Punishment

    Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars

    Endless Ocean: Blue World

Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon

    Monster Hunter Tri.

    No More Heroes 2

    Cave Story

    Red Steel 2

    Epic Mickey

    ....a lot more
