7. There was no ending. I won the playoffs and it just went back to the main screen, that's how little effort was put into this thing
Huh, you didn't even get a fireworks display after winning? I guess the Genesis version is just a better game -- it got rave reviews over on Sega-16 when one of our skilled sports gurus beat it. (And he got fireworks.)
Just reached the post in your thread where someone beat BWCF '95 and enjoyed it. Perhaps that is what you're thinking of? I didn't even realize the Genesis got two different installments in the series
...and a few pages later the thread ace tackled the pool game I've been struggling with for weeks:
VICTOLY!
This is a tedious pool game. About nine people to beat, with you having to play each opponent until one of you wins four games. So yeah, a minimum of 36 games of pool, even on a perfect run. The graphics and music are OK (though the same song plays with each game, so it gets old after a while), but the ball numbers are pretty damn hard to read at times (especially on the yellow balls). It does have an interesting little "fine tune" option, making some of the trickier shots easier to pull off, and the ending actually is an interview (with answer choices). But it still isn't the best game of pool on the Genesis, and it sticks around too long for its own good.
If you guys are both still active, ask him what and how the "fine tune' thing works. I have yet to beat the first opponent because I don't understand how the variations in your shots work
My god Tecmo Super Bowl drives me nuts. The AI will either roll over and let you have it's way with it, or it WILL win, regardless of team. First the Redskins absolutely smoke me, then the Eagles decide they're going to convert a 30 yard pass with 3 seconds left to put them in field goal range. Nevermind I selected a pass defense and even dropped LT onto THAT RECEIVER for triple coverage
Terrible, terrible single player game. Lots of fun with 2P though
I just realized I'm halfway to crab's record for games cleared in a year. It was not my intent when this started, but I may have to take a run at him...
Next year I'll be focusing entirely on green titles
Got 5 stars in Mario RPG, so I'm prob 2/3 thru the game now. I love the writing and the phantomiming it still makes me chuckle. I wasn't really doing a lot of random battles because most are easy to avoid but that makes some of the bosses rough. That wedding cake is still a nightmare and I managed to beat Yaridovich by the skin of my teeth with only Mallow left alive. Also I'm using a lot more of Mallow this run, usually I bench him as soon as I get Bowser/Peach, but I'm kinda digging the black mage this time. The big problem is it takes him awhile to get his better spells and thunderbolt stops being that effective in the mid-game, but once he starts getting shocker and snowy he is a beast.
Beaten on the last hit point of my last Chuck. I don't much like this game at all, and this port gets an additional demerit for not giving any extra lives.
At the final area in Super Mario RPG, have done most of the side stuff minus Culex. While I like using Mallow, not having Peach in your party makes the game much tougher. Anyway I should put it to bed sometime this weekend.
Super Double Dragon done. Game froze up on the final boss fight right as I killed him. There was a minor enemy or two left, but I had a full credit to go anyways, so I'm counting that shit
Wow, just played some Mighty Max and was pretty baffled. Bronze you've beat it. Tips? How does the game even work?
Ha, I was thinking about doing that one next! I'm away from home and don't have the manual (for my copy of the Genesis version), but from memory it's basically about ferrying pieces of equipment into a vortex -- it's a puzzle game, essentially, disguised as a platformer.
I remember getting totally stuck until I realized that one of the background objects was a springboard -- totally non-obvious. Also, IIRC the first level is arguably the hardest one in the game.

Power Piggs of the Dark Age. Another green titles falls
Is it any good? I've got the box but no game.
Fire Striker is beat. I'd of saved it for someone else, but its uncommon enough that I don't know who else has it

Here's the link to the post about BWCF:

He got fireworks!
Ok, finally reached it reading through your thread
He needed 6 plays. I used 4
He was right with trap option left and right though, those were my bread and butter
I don't remember if I did coverage or pass rush on defense
As for his claim of most authentic football game, I'm unsure of what I would pick at this point. Madden '96 kicks my ass, so probably that...

Eh, it was alright. Would of been better if the main attack wasn't so awkard and Lagoon-ish

I have it cab, fun game. Man I gotta get back on track, I haven't contributed much recent

Want some suggestions on easier titles and tips for them?

I've got a few in mind that I want to tackle, but I keep getting sidetracked and don't end up making time for it
Contra III thanks to the lives exploit. I actually think I could get through the final level legitimately by this point

Anyone else in the middle of anything?
Arkanoid: Doh it Again done
Doh it again is so much better then it's nes counterpart. Considerably easier too!

Yeah I've heard all about that one. 7 lives and unlimited continues definitely takes away a lot of that challenge
