Just finished Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. First time playing it, and it took me just over 10 hours, not counting the time when I died on the tutorial fight 6 times since the monster kept critting me. Overal, the game wasn't awful, just stunningly mediocre. It had some cool ideas, but the overall package was pretty bland. And yes, my character is named "Vldimir" because I was trying to go too fast and forgot the "a."
I think I'll try to take on Demon's Crest next. Should make for a good switch.
Does anyone have any idea if Super Conflict has a battery or not? I played it last night and cleared a couple missions, but then couldn't find a way to resume my game. On top of that I apparantly misplaced my security bit

It's on a list of games with battery save, and BSNES creates a battery file for the ROM when I load it, so I'm guessing it does. Could it be a Xardion situation, where the levels you unlock are just available to you without any fanfare?

Not as far as I could tell. But I also did not understand the options at the main menu.

If you press right on the main menu, it toggles through the options One Player, Two Player, and Continue Game. Is the last of those not working for you? (If so then I'd imagine your battery is dead.)
I am still around. It's just taken me this damned long to beat Populous. Great game to play. Terrible game to beat. For anyone curious you win after you progress past level 1000. I need to find something less tedious to play next.

Nice job! Do you know how many of the levels you wound up having to play?

Depending on how high your score is Ina level you skip anywhere from 1-8 levels ahead. I would guesstimate that I played over 300 individual levels. My final score over all was just a touch over a million so I assume that's the win point.

Jeez. I've tried getting through it before, but I don't think I ever played more than a dozen or so levels in a row.
I'm so close to beating Demon's Crest, but I can't figure out how to beat the bonus boss for the good ending. I've got to call it a night, but I'll hopefully finish sometime this weekend.

You mean the boss you access through a password that the ending gives you? I'm not requiring that to call it completed, just the regular ending

Oh, sweet. Then I beat it. I got the password last night. Still want to take down that sucker, but consider the game beaten. I'll post pics soon.
You watch the castle collapse, and you get this cool "The End" screen.
However, because I obtained every item in the game before going after the final boss, I unlocked the password that grants you the Ultimate Gargoyle! (And it took forever to get the HP container from Trio the Pago. I started out with about 480 gold and was down to 40 by the time I beat it.)
It also unlocked the secret final boss in a new area. After hours of frustration and death...
I beat him! I almost couldn't believe it. You get a new The End screen. Both finish with the very classy Presented by Capcom screen.
I really loved this game. It was my first playthrough. It was a fun challenge, finding all the items (minus the Trio the Pago game). The boss fights were all really cool and interesting. And the game mechanics were really solid. The endings were a little "meh" but it didn't detract from the experience. They just didn't enhance it either. I wish the game had been longer, as I feel like each gargoyle form could've used more screen time. I would've enjoyed exploring and using my abilities more. Overall, a very satisfying experience that I highly recommend.
He's tough. Go in with all urns full of ginseng. Don't use them. See how long you can survive (hint: it won't be very long). Keep practicing/dying. When you think you can make it, use your ginsengs. Once you start using them, you've got to be all in. If you lose, leave the level to buy more. My problem was I kept using all my ginsengs before I got better at fighting him. So I'd fight, lose, and then have to leave the level to get money to buy ginsengs. Then I'd have to make my way back to him (which doesn't take very long, but it breaks the flow of the game). Rinse and repeat. By just letting yourself get killed over and over again with one set of health, you start getting used to attacking and dodging. If you die, you can immediately start at the beginning of the fight, meaning you're always back in the action right away. On my winning run, I just felt I was doing well, having survived a few rotations of his transformation before getting really weak. Pulling the trigger on the ginseng was an in-the-moment decision. Then, I committed to it. I had to use all my ginseng, but I made it, with less than half a life bar remaining.
I retrieved my manual for the Genesis version of Adventures of Mighty Max, and my handwritten notes from beating No Escape (also the Genesis version), so I may tackle those over the coming weeks/months. No promises, but I like the prospect of taking down never-beaten games.

Haha i bid on that today specifically to beat for this thread
When you get it you'll wonder where it's been all your life. Progress on the thread will halt in favor of road riot days haha

I'm sweating the snipe!
Thread updated. If other things don't occupy me too much I may go after another repeat like Rival Turf tonight

Apparantly they fixed 96's iron curtain defenses by just having guys stop covering 50% of the deep routes

Haha oh man I hate trying to snipe, the anticipation
I was sniped! Someone desperatly wanted that 6/10 condition Road Riot 4WD
That finishes off the Rushing Beat trilogy
