  • Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego has been slain.

  • Well if you hate yourself you can do Where in Time now
  • So yeah... after each dungeon in Runes of Virtue 2 you have to escort the lord back to his town. Except one of the later ones belongs to an island town. And the only way to get to the island is hijacking a pirate ship. Except if he dies trying to get the ship (which he will, because the AI is nonexistant) you get to do the whole damn dungeon again for a shot to retrieve him again. And another shot at his stupid ass dying to the pirates.

And the dungeons reset each time.

    What. The. Fuck.
  • I can't even get a pirate ship to spawn so I can even get back to the dungeon in the first place

It's blowing my mind how badly designed this is. I have literally made negative progress tonight

lol I may have if I hadn't worked through it with my 7 year old.

  • I finally broke thru Breakthru! I couldn't find an instruction manual online after a few minutes of googling, so I had to figure out a few things through a lot of messing up. Once I got it worked out, it became a pretty enjoyable little puzzler. Completion conditions are to make it through 24 levels, then it loops. So here's the end of the 24th level, before it started me over at Berlin again, with a 2 in the box where there's currently a 1. It's sitting there paused, I'll play another 24 rounds to see if anything more exciting happens.

  • Nice job man. I tried to play that last year and just could not make heads or tails of what was going on
  • 200 greens left

50+ games over the previous record

9 games away from 50% clear

Lots of milestones being established, and I'll only have to manually sort 10s, 9s, and most of the 8s for next year now
  • I really need to start working on some titles, I've been majorly slacking.
  • On the final dungeon of Runes of Virtue 2, but the longplay I've been using for help is 3 hours long for that one....

Also nearly done with Harvest Moon as I just need to grind through the last few seasons. I'm hoping to finish both tonight since my wife will be out
  • Ultima: Runes of Virtue 2

Last couple of dungeons were a marathon, but finally done.  It's pretty impressive that this was a Game Boy game.

  • ^Nice! I've always been curious about those games.
  • It was fun.  Flawed, but fun

And now to finish off the double header, Harvest Moon.  Not sure how many endings there are, and I don't remember particulars of ones I've gotten in the past, but this one seemed goodish.

  • Well, not sure what to start next.

Brain Lord - beat it last year

Brandish - beat it last year

Dragon View - beat it last year

Lagoon - beat it last year, don't want to do it again

Robotrek - beat it last year, not doing it again

Breath of Fire 2 - gave up on it last year

Equinox - gave up on it 2 years ago

    Paladin's Quest - don't have it

Secret of the Stars - don't have it

    Obitus - don't have it

    Arcana - don't have it

Lord of the Rings - absolutely not happening

Ultima VI - need an Ultima break

    Ultima VII - ditto

    Dungeon Master - ?

    Drakkhen - ?

Probably leaning towards one of the last two, since i'm unfamiliar with them

  • Drakkhen's pretty short and painless if you know what to do. Just be sure to pay attention to what all the NPCs say.

(Or maybe not all the NPCs, just the ones who tell you how to get into places...)
  • It's been awhile but I fired up Lost Vikings II again and made good progress. Man it is a whole heck of alot easier than the first game. I think I only have 5 stages left at this point. Hoping to finish it tomorrow so I can play No Man's Sky the rest of the week.
  • I'll hold you to it
  • I did beat Lost Vikings II last night but didn't get a chance to post till now.

Another game worth playing! Just as good as the first game, and a little easier to boot. Hard to say which one i like better, though it was nice the second game didn't one hit kill you every level at the end unlike the first game.

Not sure whats next..... Maybe I'll attempt Jim Powers some more, or some other random green title.

  • Nice, green is good
  • Unbeaten 1s and 2s

2 ActRaiser 2 (I may get back to this)

    1 Aero Fighters

    2 B.O.B.

    2 Brain Lord

1 Bubsy in: Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind

2 Cool Spot (I bumped up the requirements here)

    1 Final Fight Guy

    2 Gemfire

    2 Jurassic Park

1 Legend of the Mystical Ninja, The (I'm in the middle of this now)

    2 Magic Sword

    2 NHL '94

    2 NHL '95

    1 Ninja Gaiden Trilogy

    2 Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures

    2 Pilotwings

1 Pirates of Dark Water, The

    2 Pocky and Rocky 2

    2 Scooby-Doo Mystery

    2 SimCity

    2 Sparkster

    1 Top Gear
  • I played around with Dungeon Master a bit last night, but couldn't make heads or tails of some of the interface stuff. I think I'd probably hold off until I had a manual as this point

And I'd probably print some maps too, since I ain't busting out the graphing paper
  • Legend of the Mystical Ninja is done
  • I actually forgot about Shadowrun when cataloging the RPGs. I will be starting that as I have never played it.
  • At some point this weekend I'll give Bubsy and maybe scooby doo a go. Never beaten either though so no guarentees.
  • I've beat Bubsy a number of times. You can get passwords, and the gameplay itself isn't terrible, but there are a number of frustrating things about the level design, especially getting one shot by ranged attacks you barely have time to register if you're moving with any speed.
  • Yea I played the game a lot growing up but never beat it. I remember always quitting due to anger and impatience so I'll attempt to keep my cool this time around. I know I've been close before so we will see.
  • NCAA Final Four Basketball done.  First time I've thrown a controller in a long time.  Such a terrible, terrible game.  Anyone QA this shit and think, "hmm, maybe the passing could use some work"?

Every basketball game other than the Live series (and maybe the Jam series) on SNES is just such complete utter garbage
  • Man, started QBert 3, but after checking some videos it looks like this thing goes on for 26 sets of levels. As far as I know you always have unlimited continues, but that is crazy. So that's going back on the shelf; perhaps I'll give it a go next year
  • I beat Revolution X about 10 minutes ago. That final boss ended up being way more gorey than I thought it would.

Pretty mediocre game for the most part but had some interesting ideas like adjusting the speed of your car in the bus lvl (even though it felt like it didnt work half the time.) Good thing I like the song Rag Doll since you hear it a bunch of times within the game. Also the part where Steven Tyler throws you the keys to Aerosmith's car through a TV screen is just brillant.
  • Nice, I still haven't played that, and now I'll put it off until at least next year again

That ties you with Andy for 7th all-time, and one game away from tying Wiz
