Collecting Podcast - Looking for guests

Hey Guys,

I'm currently part of a podcast about gaming called Polykill (you can find it on iTunes or at Polykill.com) and am going to pickup another one on the site that highlights collecting culture, something I'm proud to be part of.

Each episode will be about 30 minutes long and interview notable collectors and personalities in the collecting realm. There are already a handful of notable guests on board but before we lift-off, we'd like a few more to sign up to ensure we'll get a number of episodes in the chamber.

It would basically consist of a Skype conversation about all things collecting.  Hot tips, nuances, preferences, gripes, grievances, warnings, experiences, etc. with some of the most succesful collectors, store owners, and personalities around (if we can get them).  We'll edit out all the awkwardness and try to keep it a tight 30 minute episode.

If you have a notable collection and feel like you would want to be a part of this endeavor, please let me know either by PM or reply.  You can also find me @travplaysgames or our team @polykill.

If you know of some folks who would be good guests to bring on, recommend them and we'll see if we can track them down.

Thanks for your time,

--Travis

  • My collection is pretty small compared to most on the site, but I'm always down to talk games/collecting
  • I would be down. Collection is decent. about 400 nes with tons of accessories/periferals etc.
  • We'd like 10 guests for the first season. Right now we have 4 and everyone is heavy in NES collecting, which is totally fine, but we want to spread it out . If there are any other well spoken collectors out there who go after other platforms who would like to help, we could use ya! Reply here or PM me.
  • We have five guests and we would prefer to have at least five more. If anyone out there would like to offer up some unique perspective or just any perspective at all on gaming, collecting, hunting, displaying, maintaining, curating, trading, buying, selling, verifying, developing, writing, etc. please get in touch!
  • Do you have a way to listen to the show without having itunes?

    edit: Nevermind. Found it.

Hey! Glad you found it.  I'll post more links here in case others have the same questions.

    Here is one way:  http://directory.libsyn.com/shows/view/id/polykill

    And here is another:  http://www.polykill.com/podcasts-1/

Also, keep in mind, this is not the same podcast I'm recruiting for.  It's just another one that I'm a part of.  The one I'm recruiting for will be a separate show but still under the Polykill "umbrella", so to speak.

Still - gives me an idea of your style and recording quality.

Yeah so guest slots. I'd do it. I collect RPGs have about 700 in a 1000+ collection. I run a retro RPG review channel (link in my sig) and blabber frequently on Jeff's VGBS podcast.

  • Excellent! PM's incoming!
  • I'm probably as far from notable as you can get. I'm at 674 licensed NES games (over the course of 17 years) though, and I also am working on a crappy snes cart collection (at about 140 right now). I also collect antique christmas lights.

If you run short on notable people and need someone to fill a final gap or something, I'd be interested.
  • Anyone else interested? We have room for a few more folks. If you like to collect and are willing to donate some time for an interview about it, please let me know. Collections of any variety, big or small.
  • Aha! How did I miss this thread on NA?

Heh, not sure.  You're the only person to respond to seeing the SegaAge post.  Radio silence over there!
