Anyone wanna educate me on how to tell a fake NES/SNES game

Hi everybody. So long time collector and gamer, but never really got into the big expensive stuff so to speak. But as i look over the forums on things i would like to buy, i realize that i am very uneducated with regards to what im looking for when it comes to fake/counterfeit labels, boards, and carts.

So if anyone has some time and feels like educating me on this, i would greatly appreciate it. Ive always bought most of my games through local shops, individual people and the occassional Ebay/Amazon but with the day and age of people ripping others off, not to mention sites popping up with "repro" NES/SNES games on the cheap, id like to have more knowledge so i dont become another sad SOB who didnt do enough research.

  • Thank you so much for that. this was exactly what i was looking for.
  • For fake boards, Look for little windows on the chips, weird solders, weird wires, or PCB boards that dont match the ones on Bootgod.com for the game in question.

For labels, look to make sure it is the right gloss, the right colors, the right size/alignment, also the Seal of Quality usually has an ever-so-slight reflectiveness to it.
