Seeking help regarding StarHawk, Battle Bull, and Flintstones: King Rock Treasure Island for Game Bo

Hi All,

I have a large collection of vintage Vidpro cards that I'm going through and thinning out and I came across a few more cards for Game Boy titles that I have questions about.

First off, I have two cards for the game "The Flintstones: "King Rock Treasure Island". Both cards are identical, except one card does not have the subtitle of "King Rock Treasure Island"

underneath the large "Flintstones" title (see photo). On the back of the card without the subtitle, it's replaced by the phrase, "Help Fred Find the Treasure". Does anyone know when the

subtitle may have been added, or if any copies were sent into production without it?

I also have two Vidpros for the game, "Battle Bull". They both have vastly different box art. It seems only one was produced for the marketplace. Has anyone ever seen the alternate (pictured).

I thought perhaps it may have been from a foreign release, but I haven't found anything to support that.

Lastly, was StarHawk ever released in the U.S.? The rarity guide has no record of it and I can't find much info on it. I've seen a few articles that say it was released in the summer of 1993,

but again, I can't find anything that solidly supports that, or any copies of a U.S. version that exist.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

-Dan

  • Starhawk was not a USA game, but it did appear in Europe. The battlebull is probably a mockup artwork that did not make release.
  • Thanks for the info, jonebone!

That's what I kind of figured with StarHawk, but was confused with some sources saying it had a North American release. It seems a U.S. release was planned, but then cancelled in the last few months. Vidpro would produce cards for games months in advance and send them out to the Toy 'R" Us stores, so we could plan for the games' arrival. I have had quite a few cards for games that were never released or had box art that was vastly different from the final retail packaging. Like you said, that's got to be what happened with Battle Bull and The Flintstones, as well.
