Removing Sticker Help

I finally was able to complete my Pokemon Box by adding the outter box but the problem is, while the box itself is in fantastic condition, it still has that sticker from where it was sealed stuck on the top. Is there anyway of me removing it without damaging the top of the box? I'm half afraid to even try peeling it just to see if it will come off because the risk of taking some of the box artwork off. I need a solid always works type of idea before I even wanna try it haha

  • Hair dryer and a lot of patience, heat it from underneath and slowly and gently peel it off. Honestly I'd just leave it.
  • ^^^ Agreed.

If you do choose to remove it, make sure you start peeling from the opposite side of the edge like where the curved part of the sticker is so that you don't accidentally rip something from the edge of the cardboard downwards. I'm speaking from experience...haha

Well I got both sides of the sticker off with no damage! It did however leave alittle sticker residue behind though, anyway to remove that? I tried rubbing my finger across it to try to peel it off as well but it like bundled up and made it black which sticks out like a sore thumb now haha I have used Goo Gone on cases but never cardboard so I doubt that's an option sadly.

  • Goo gone can work on cardboard but you have to be extremely careful. Put the smallest possible drop on a cotton ball, so it soaks into the cotton rather then the cardboard. And lightly dab it. Dry the cardboard off immediately.

Edit: also depends on the box. I'm not familiar with GameCube boxes so don't do this until somebody else who knows better confirms

I usually just keep rubbing. The black stuff will usually continue clumping and you should be able to slide it off. You might have to keep switching to a fresh finger if the adhesive starts coating your fingers.
  • Maybe safest option would be to leave it. Try a very small amount of Goo Gone on the sticker, not the cardboard.
