Ps1 on Ps3 issues

Wanted to play Crash Warped last night but it freezes up just before the title screen. Disc had some minor scratches so I ran it through my disc buffer and cleaned it up but still same issue. Took my ps3 apart and cleaned it out along with the laser eye. Put it back together and same thing still. So then I dug my ps1 out of the closet and hooked it up. Sure enough, it plays perfect. Another game I tried, the ps3 would run it but the music would not play. I have played other ps1 games on my ps3 without issues so it seems only certain games are having problems. 



Anyone else have similar problems? Anything I can do to help the issue? Is my ps3 dying? Any input would be much appreciated.

    I know that the laser in PS3's dying is a pretty common issue. I'm unsure though if it will die slowly or just crap out over night.

    I only have 2 ps3 games but they both play fine. My ps2 games, DVDs, and blu-rays play fine as well.

    That's odd. I've never heard of that issue. I'll try playing warped on my ps3 later and see if I have any issues. My ps3 is a later model

    There are some PS1 games that don't play at all on a PS3, I'll see if I can find a list.

    I tried finding the old list of games that didn't work on PS3 and all the links go to a random playstation page but with no list. I know there use to be a list but the list is not very large if I remember. The only games I ever had trouble with were the tomb raider games.

    The issue i had while playing PS1 games on my 60GB PS3, was that it wouldn't always save the game to the virtual memory card. It wasn't a reliable save. Kinda shitty it deleted my Final Fantasy 5 save...... It didn't do it when i first started. It happened half way through the game.

    The game show games (You Don't Know Jack, Millionaire, Weakest Link, etc) are notorious for not working either.
