Going to Thailand, any retro stores/what to buy?

Hi everyone,

Next week I will be in Bangkok for work and wanted to see if anyone knows any must visit game stores or knows of any collectibles that would be good to look for while I'm over there.

Any info will help!

  • Unfortunately there is almost nothing. There are a few Famicom/Japanese retro stores, but I don't collect those so I haven't been.

He is the FB page of one of them:

    What are you looking for?
  • When I did some travel in SE Asia, all I found in the way of video games were stores that had a large CD binder on the table with the pages filled with inserts for what pirated games they offered for sale.

I don't think I saw anything authentic/genuine, though I'm sure I wasn't wise enough to be looking in the right places.
  • Yea I'd be careful since most if not all fakes are pumped out of countries like Thailand and China. So you never know what you're getting unless you open everything up you want to buy to confirm

I'm not even talking about counterfeit cartridges or fakes trying to look authentic.

The game stores I saw were just selling burned CD's of ROMs and stuff.

It was obvious they were fake, and it was just about giving people with slow internet connections the convenience of large data-dumps.
