well.. here when you send a parcel you get a track & trace code so you can see where the packet is.
When something happens you can prove that you delivered it in good condition to the post office.. and that it arrived all messed up.. you can give them a hard time about it and they might compensate you for atleast a bit
and if they dont.. you can still vent your anger on them
Yep if you want to cash in on a USPS insurance claim, you need to surrender the goods. Whether they decide to actually put whatever it is up for public auction or just junk it, they take it.
As far as being angry, I'm not really. The way I see it, you're either the one shipping the 70-lb case of Poweraaaay through the normal mail stream, or the one getting crushed by it. It's just a shame I've chosen to collect fragile things, instead of Poweraaaaaaaay.
That is exactly right Dan. It always works out that the heavy packages come in later in the day and go on top of the small lighter ones. I always try to move stuff around the best I can, but that isn't always an option when you are lined out the door. I also think I care more about parcels than a lot of people do cause I ship so much stuff all the time.
Dangevin I'm glad to hear you got this sorted... in the last week I've had 2 boxed games (Adventure Island 2 & Ufouria) that I've been after for ages turn up in my letter box only sent in paper envelopes and then crammed into my letter box and all but destroyed....
I know yours were packed very very well and still got scrunched... well mine were poorly packed and got shredded... it sucks balls, and I rarely get to spend money on games these days so I had to gripe. Sorry about the thread jacking.

are you gonna file a claim dan/jason?
No grounds to file a claim, Sjoerd, no insurance was purchased. And even so, I'd only be able to claim for about $100 or so, the "value" of each game.
Damn if Karma is coming to get me, I better watch my back for that $25 boxed Flintstones 2

Then wouldn't the USPS be a proud owner of 2 Happy Camper games? Not that this really matters since there was no insurance purchased.
