Are you buying a Wii?

I can't say no to Nintendo! Less than 2 weeks now... Can't wait!

  • I am sooo pumped for the Wii. I will get one on launch day if I can. I also plan to buy a PS3, but only to resale so I can pay for my Wii and maybe even get a little profit to boot. SO EXCITED!!!!!

  • I wish I had a few thousand $$$ to spare, I'd pick up a bunch of PS3's and then turn around and sell them on ebay around xmas time to rich people with spoiled kids for 2 - 3x the original price
  • exactly bootgod. I am going to put them on my CC and pay the bill off once they sale. I am going to buy as many as I can. I will have my mom, dad, g/f, and even a few of my other friends wait with me if the lines are short and buy as many as I can. I can nearly guarantee they won't sale for less than 1200 bucks from now till X-mas on egay. Easy money I am hoping.

Yeah, a buddy of mine did the same thing. He FINALLY got it sold and made like a $15 profit. Definitely not worth the time and effort. Hope you guys have better luck with those PS3s though.
  • There was a PS3 preorder sold on ebay the other day. It sold for WAY less than retail cost. The guy closed his eBay account. Hilarious!

    Haha he got owned!

Im not getting a Wii myself unless someone give it to me for free
The main reason why i'm not getting it is because not one game interest me, not even Zelda:TP or Mario Galaxy (Mario in 3d?! O_o
) The controller is cool enough, but the games are what matters.

The price here is like $400 at launch. A full controller (Wiimote + Nunchuk) will be about $100, VC games will cost from $8 - $15 which is in most cases more than the originals. I dont have a wireless router either so i would have to get the ethernet USB adapter and that is probly like $25 - $30. The games will cost from $75 - $95, but that is normal price. So a Wii console, 1 extra full controller, ethernet adapter and 2 games will cost over $600 for me. So much for a cheap console hehe
On the other hand, PS3 will be about $800 and thats just for the console itself.

Maybe i'll get a Wii in 2-3 years, we'll see
  • The problem that I have right now is deciding on which launch games to get. Zelda is a must, but I'd like to get one other game too...
  • I am getting Red Steel for sure and maybe Excite Truck. Never been a big Zelda fan except for the NES version. I am more pumped about Metriod than anything else. The new WarioWare games looks sweet, and of course Smash Bros, but those aren't launch titles.

  • NGD, what did you think of Metroid Prime 2? Personally I thought the first one was a lot better, I really didn't like the whole light/dark world thing in 2. I'm just hoping they get back on track with the Wii one
  • I liked Prime 2, but I thought it was way to hard/confusing at times. It was the only Metriod game I had to use a guide on, it is impossilbe to find everything on your own. I didnt like the whole light/dark world thing that much either, it became annoying quickly. The grapics and music were fantastic though. The thing I hated the most was the depletable ammo for the light, dark and anniliator beam weapons. I like to be able to blast the living shit out of stuff and now worry about ammo. That is one of the main reasons I like the Metriod series. I hope they go back to the endless ammo feature from Metriod series of old. It is a good game, but I also liked the first one better. Hoping 3 will finish up the series nicely so they can start something new with Samus. I would LOVE to see a new side-scroller Metriod for the DS also. I wasn't a huge fan of Hunters, I though the controls are VERY awkward.

  • Got my Wii... It's awesome! Highly recommended!
  • I got mine also, LOVE it. I have Red Steel, Zelda, Excite Truck and Rayman and of course Wii Sports. Haven't played Zelda or Excite Truck, just got them tonight. Rayman is fun little mini games, but they are hard. MY g/f is playing it right now, I needed a break. Excite Truck is next to try out. I am off all day tom. and I plan to do some hardcore Red Steel. The games all seem pretty tough so far, and the controls take some getting used to.

  • I got Rayman and Zelda. I too took today off work. Time to break out Zelda!
  • I'm too busy playing Castlevania IV on my SNES to even think about buying a Wii.

I guess I can go buy a Gamecube now that the Wii is out. I will probably get a Will in the spring once the hysteria has died down and the price drops a little.
  • Nintendo commands you to buy a Wii now!
  • In my best zombie voice - yes master, I will buy a Wii image
  • I am about 18 hours in on Zelda and boy is it good stuff. My g/f is addicted to Rayman (she is playing it even as I type this). I think I about about half way through Zelda and boy does it get frustrating sometimes. I have barely played excitetruck and red steel yet. Red Steel is up next if/when I beat Zelda.

I don't and never will; newer consoles just don't do it for me and I know by now they never will... good thing there are literally 100,000 older games for me to choose from...
  • I bought one the night of New Year's Eve (yes, roughly 10 days ago). It's the 7th I've owned, the other six (including one purchased launch day) are in the hands of six very fortunate gamers image .

Edit:  For those that wonder, this one I do plan on keeping:  I've already put more playtime into it (roughly 30 hours) than I did the other six put together.

I'm in agreement with Dr. Morbis.

  • I don't own one either. I keep thinking about it, but by the time I have enough cash in my game budget I'm usually padding the NES, DS or SNES collections.
  • I just bought my first Wii on the 26th of December.. It is really fun.. My wife and I enjoy playing it together..

Even my 2 year old daughter wants to swing the Remote around and pretend play.. I'm glad I finally bought one..

I enjoy the controls soo much more then a PS3 or Xbox360 with their 10 Millllllioooon buttons..

Plus finally being able to play Megaman 9 and Super Mario RPG thru Virtual Console is a HUGE plus..
  • I borrowed a friends Wii so I could beat Super Mario Galaxy but that was about it. It's funny that I own a copy of that game but no system to play it on!
  • I got mine and a boatload of games thanks to that crooked 600 dollar refund last year. You're welcome economy.
  • I got one a month after they came out and I just opened it last weekend. The funny thing is, in that time a bought over 20 games for it none of them open. Its like christmas all over again LOL
  • The Wii is probably one my least played systems now, tho I played the hell out of it when I first got it.

The Wii, unlike other newer consoles, has alot of titles where you can just pick up and play for 20 minutes and have fun. Not turn it on for a month, and do the same thing

Simple, fast, fun games that require little investment.

It's RPG library leaves much to be desired
