I work as a network admin and travel around 30-50 offices if network problems occur. I fix analog phone lines, deal with VOiPs, fix server errors, fix switches/router erros and just plain dumb stuff like "my monitor is not working; well, have you checked if its plugged in?". My day happens like this: I wake up, take a shower and dress up. Go outside and open my car touching the handle and ZAP, then I sit an drive to my work. I come there, park and get out to close my car's door and ZAP, get to my trunk and open it and ZAP. Get my things and begin to walk to the main door, as soon as I touch it ZAP. I walk down the hallway and open another door and ZAP. Get to my office and open it and ZAP. Then i turn 4 light switches and ZAP, ZAP, ZAP, ZAP. Sit on my computer and work. Then I get a call to drive somewhere if I have to open any doors with by touching a door nub I get ZAP, any networking equipment zaps me too like racks, switches, sometimes when I shake someone's hand I get zapped, touching any plastic/metal sits I get ZAP. It actually hurts, not like those little static clings but it freaking hurts! In 4 years dealing with this I got used to it and close my car doors with my elbow and foot but I still get ZAP but its not that hurtful as with hands, I turn my light switches with my 1 foot wooden ruler. Touch any equipment 1st with my leg, body, elbow...

It's called static electricity. if you drag your feet it builds up. if your pant legs hit together as your walking it builds up. most odd if you have long hair it happens as well. This happened me alot. Touch doors & switches grounds you out and thats the zap. Worst is whrn your taking cloths out the dryer. Big zap.

I understand that, but how come i get zapped 30-40 times a day or even more. Like switching lights in my office every 2 seconds zap? May be I am failing at physics but shouldn't I lose static charge after 1st light switch I mean come on, 2 seconds later I get another one?

  • You probably have dry air. Get a humidifier and that will reduce the static electricity in the air.
  • But I can't carry it around with me...

Your colleges and sports teams stink like cheese too.

A Viking shouldn't make comments about things stinking

This may sound shocking but I lived in Wisconsin 14+ years and not once have I tried a cheese curd.

SnowSauce- I graduated from Whitewater- Warhawks for life!

    Megamanfan- that is anti-american.

I love them, but they are incredibly unhealthy.

If you do choose to try them, I'd reccommend not getting them from a fast food joint on your first go. Those can be good, but they aren't nearly as good as fresh from the county fair food truck...

Oh yeah, the lions club truck or American Legion trucks.  Those old boys make the best cheese curds and its for a good cause.

The OP is clearly allergic to cheese and you sir have an un-tapped super power.

My quirks? I have restless leg syndrom, and my knee really fucking hurts whenever I get sleepy.

  • My biggest quirk, or OCD, is I can never remember locking the door to my house. I come home everyday for lunch, and when I leave no matter how hard I try to be aware of locking the door I usually can't actually remember doing it. Sometimes I get a block away from home and have to double back to make sure. It sucks. I also can never remember someone's name after an introduction. I guess my mind goes into introduction phase and I get locked in on telling the person my name, and just blackout while they are telling me their name. Kinda makes me feel like a jerk when this person regularly uses my name, and I'm just listening for their name so I can use it next time I see them to avoid the embarassment of having to ask them what they said their name is.
  • Its happening again! XD Big spread o cheese in my grill and the cheecks are drippin!
