Titus the Fox for the Game Boy Color is done! In spite of the horrible reviews this game got it actually wasn't nearly as bad as I expected, and I had a lot of fun playing through it. I will admit that there was some pretty questionable level design choices here and there, with invisible ladders and tunnels necessary to find the exit that don't appear until you walk over them, but I never had to use a guide to find any of them and overall I thought it was a pretty enjoyable game. If I'm being completely honest a lot of that enjoyment was from the character aethetics and cute 8-bit pixel art peices between levels, but all furriness aside it was still a fairly decent platfomer and I might give the original Game Boy version a go at some point too. My only big complaint is that the instruction booklet said that the goal of the game was to rescue Titus's girlfriend, but based on the ending screen I'm pretty sure that Titus's girlfriend is actually his twin brother in drag. Whatever floats his boat I guess. XD
Cool stuff! You've got a 20" Trinitron too? I'm not sure what the exact model number on mine is, but here's a full size pic of my retro gaming center with a better look at the TV for reference.
(WARNING: Contains copious quantities of pastel purple ponies)
Got close to beating Battletoads Double Dragon on my first try last night. I expected to one shot it, but there were just enough differences to throw me for a loop. And the ladders on stage 5 are way more finnicky
I think this is what's called "taking one for the team". lol
Mortal Kombat (Game Boy)
I remember having this game as a kid and really enjoying it back when I was 8 or 9 years old, but I think it was mostly because I didn't know any better back then. At the time I had Mortal Kombat on the Sega Genesis and wanted it for the Game Boy too so I could play it on the go, and I ended up begging my parents for a copy until they eventually bought it for me. Going back and playing it again over 20 years later it is now much more apparent what an awful version of Mortal Kombat this is, but I still enjoyed it a bit for the nostalgia factor of it being a game I remembered playing a lot as a kid. On the plus side, the music is actually quite good and it is pretty neat that you can play as Goro if you enter the right code after beating the game. I don't think either of those factors are enough to recommend the game, since it still controls like you're trying to play Mortal Kombat in a giant pool of molasses outside in January, but I suppose every cloud has it's silver linings.
Good ports of some old school arcade favorites! I enjoy playing both of these games quite a bit on my 60-in-1 multicade, as well as on the Atari 7800 and 2600, and the Game Boy versions are decidedly nice translations. Pictures taken with my tablet since my usual higher resolution camera had difficulty photographing the CRT screen with the white backgrounds.
I decided to do one more game tonight, and since no one had tackled the Game Boy combo cart ports of two of my favorite arcade games I figured I'd give them a go. I was pleasantly surprised to find that even though Centipede looks almost identical to it's Game Boy Color brethren the difficulty was increased a fair bit, to the point that I couldn't play it indefinitely.
I was also really pleased with the Game Boy version of Millipede. It starts off really slow, but it does pick up the pace over time and at around 300,000 points the game really starts trying in earnest to kill you. At that point the spiders become similarly aggressive to what I'm used to in the original arcade version of Millipede and the Atari 2600 port, and the Millipede itself starts literally teleporting segments of it's body from the top of the screen down to the middle and bottom like some kind of insectile magician. Behold, the Great and Powerful Millipede! Oberseve in wonder and awe as the Millipede disappears from the top of the screen and reappears at the bottom! The Millipede is faster than the eye! lol
I know this doesn't count but I just beat Trip World on ouya. It's fun and cute and has awesome music, but honestly not a great game haha!
I just ordered some parts for gameboy modding so playing some of the games I want to beat will be a heck of a lot easier. I have been emulating pokemon crystal as well, maybe I should try and finish it before someone else does...
Also working my way thru Darkman. I really like it but its pretty tricky. Gotta keep playing it and get used to it to progress. Got to the beginning of the 3 (last) stage.
I just got Mega Man today and WOW is it hard!! No wonder why it was left up there haha. I needed a lot of internet help cuz I didnt want to do Wily Castle from the beginning after a game over!
Also last night I was at the final boss of Darkman, I thought i was at the top of the screen to make a platform jump and I fucking missed and fell to my death on my last life. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCKKk.... I will be beating Darkman soon, I have the have of it, just need a good run.

Sorry it got lost in the text, something was bound to slip through. I'll get everyone updated soon
Oh man FINALLY beat Darkman! I must have tried over 10 times last night alone. I got to the final boss with like 5 extra lives but the hitbox is weird. Luckily I only used up 4 of my lives. I love and hate this game.
Well I'm glad I wasted all that time playing orcale of ages, dont worry i'm just messing with you. I'm just glad these games are being beat! Will update soon.
I just got it today and had a little bit of experience with it before. Great fun game, altho maybe a little too short, or easy IMO (cept for the last boss) and one you get the feel for that last boss you can cheese him a bit. I got a few other games i'll be playing soon one I get em.
MUCH easier than the first one! It was nice to see similar levels from MM2 and 3 in there. But the game was a little too easy, but the last Wily boss was tricky. Luckily I had enough lives and E tanks.
I think this is the first time since 20 years I've beaten this. I never really liked that game, but still spent a lot of time with it. The controls are awful and it has some unfair and frustrating parts, but I still like the idea of the game.
I have been working on Legend of the River King on original Game Boy, should finish it before the summer is over. Haven't played this in a long time, having a fun time with it! Will post when finished.

On that note, Ill go back to TMNT 3 Radical Rescue. Ill finish that up in a day or so.
As a kid, I only had one of the games so it was nice to play through the linked game and get the true ending.
