Great way to store games, not too expensive (Like $1.50ish/cast including ink/paper), and lets you customize your collection so it's YOUR collection.

Damn Ozz, those are pretty slick.

They're Euro-style DS cases, I buy them right from ebay in bulk sets.  Pretty sure they're OEM, if not, they're a damned good nock-off.

  • They don't really do much, but I use plastic sleeves for NES.
  • Generally I use Trojans.

...Oh you meant for my games?
  • ^ it was only a matter of time lol...

does anyone make the protective cases for sega 32x?

I second this. Being in the military I make frequent moves and want my collection to be safe.

  • JimPole's protectors for any cardboard boxes.

Carts typically go in the plastic cases. We use the custom style ones for SNES and Genesis and print the labels to go with them. NES, we just use the original plastic cases from Nintendo.
  • NES/GB/GBC/GBA - customgamecases.com

    SNES/N64 - UGC

    DS/3DS/GCN/Wii/WiiU/PS1-3 - OEM Casing
  • Bitbox - SNES

    Shadowfox/Bitboxes - NES, haven't made a decision

DS style - GB and GBA

    Original clamshells - Genesis

No solution figured out for N64

Most of my carts are naked though. Priority has been getting carts for the foreseeable future.

    No interest in cardboard boxes
  • Loose NES - all have official dust covers

Loose from other systems - keep em naked.

    Boxed NES/SNES/GB/GBA/N64/VB - I use videogameboxprotectors.com

Are you talking about the game carts?

If so, they fit just fine in UGCs which is what I use.  However, Stone Age Gamer is working on a Genesis Bitbox that would hold regular Genesis carts, EA Genesis carts, 32x carts, Master System carts and Famicom carts (which obviously doesn't fall under "Genesis," but they just happen to fit).  Check out their Facebook page to see the pictures of the prototypes.  I don't believe they are available to order yet, but I might be wrong.

***EDIT***  Their Facebook page says Summer of 2016 for Genesis Bitbox.

I saw this after I asked the question and ordered some of the ones I linked..  The ones I linked i received yesterday, and they appear to be about a 1/2 longer than the original plastic protectors.  Are JimPole that same way?

By memory and pictures on my phone, it seems that Jim's are minimally larger than NES boxes. Couldn't be a much better fit.
  • videogameboxprotectors.com for basically everything for me.
  • I have my NES carts, any boxes and wii u stuff in protectors from videogameboxrotectors

    SNES and N64 in UGCs

Gameboy and Genesis I have just ordered a case each from customgamecases to try. They haven't arrived yet
  • Another vote for video game box protectors. I'mean using around a thousand of them.
  • i've been using sandwich size ziplock bags to keep labels from getting damaged & dust off my doubles & trade carts
  • the gallon sized will hold nes boxes...
  • I just use videogameboxprotectors's er... box protectors for my SNES, NES and Game Boy games. I also use their 3DO boxes on a portion of my collection that they fit. I have a bunch of console boxes I'd be interested in protecting if someone has an easy and customizable solution for that, outside of just cutting up clear plastic myself.

sorry, old picture, there's more now...

the solid wall of blue is SNES, the multicolored ones are N64, im still debating what exactly to do with them

    image

Man. Gotta say. Those clamshells look pretty gross when you have that many in one place. It looks more like some office supply closet or the back room of a video rental store than a gaming room. Not being able to see the individual art or titles, or even the cartridges themselves sucks any joy out of looking at a collection.

  • Way overdue to get more of these

  • I bought a slew of the video game box protectors everyone else is mentioning when I first started collecting SNES CIB games. Since then, I've been buying large numbers of the fancy acrylic cases from VGAcases on ebay. They are expensive, but he cuts me a solid deal for large bulk purchases and they are absolutely beautiful.
  • Wow. The uniformity of those SNES carts gives it an encyclopedia kind of feel.
  • that title got me
  • If it came with a plastic case, it's sitting in the case. I've got a few large boxes I store some carts in. For the rest, the only protection I've got is putting the pin edge against the wall of the shelf it is sitting in.
