1992 Chipper Jones PSA 10 Desert Shield Rookie, $5k-$8k
1997 Ken Griffey Jr Donruss Crusade Red $10k
And those are only ones that I know of. I only follow baseball Ripken and 90s inserts. NBA is actually a much more global sport than Baseball, so some NBA cards are insane. Big NBA collectors in Korea / Asia believe it or not. I just searched Kobe and found this
1996 Topps Chrome BGS 10 Kobe Bryant Rookie: $58,000

Also, Jordan PSA 10 1986 Fleer are more like $20k+ right now, $15k is conservative. You put up a PSA 10 at that price and it'll be gone in minutes.
Magic the gathering black lotus, not sure which one is most valuable
what about the rest of the power nine? I haven't kept up with them but aren't they pricy too?

With the exception of black lotus they are all sub $5000 cards I believe.
EDIT: It's still a ton of money for a card but is nothing compared to other items on that list.
There are plenty of production RC cars in the $5k+ range. Wish I could get this one without being kicked out of the house: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2016-Newest-CAPO-CD15825-TATRA-T815-7-8X8-1-10-Super-Scale-Military-Cargo-Truck-/201503379737 Many of the more expensive vintage ones are just before 84, but are in the 20x original price range for NIB.

edit: Wait. You said after 1984, nevermind.

I was racking my brain, and remembered that a previously unreleased Wu-Tang album that only one copy of was ever pressed was auctioned off for several million last year. When I looked up the details, I found this wiki page that includes the most expensive publicly sold records of all time, and two of them were released since 1984 including one by Michael Jackson and one by Aphex Twin.

That s.o.b. Martin Shkreli bought that Wu Tang album. He's holding it hostage!!! That's pretty cool and surprising that Aphex Twin would have one of the most expensive records ever sold publicly. He is crazy talented, just didn't realize people cared about him that much.
What do you define as a collectible? There are a lot of collectible pieces of art selling for tens of millions of dollars that were created after 1984. There are probably some pricey cars out there too, and jewelry.
absolutely; I didn't include fine art because it would dominate the list, cars are collectible blur the line so I didn't include, jewelry I view as more utilitarian.
Illustration art (art on commercial packages and such) I think is fair game because its an extension of the collectible. I put comic art examples on the list and really I should put other illustration art on there too I guess.
Motu he man and skelator series 1 8.5 3k
I want to keep it to 10 grand and up
I think it should be divided into general release (SE) or one/few of a kind (home run ball). There is too much stuff where a generic item is gold plated and bejeweled and sells for millions.
OK, good suggestion
Kids

Amazing spider man #300 first appearance of venom 12,000 1988
When was that? Must have been a 10.0? 9.8s the usual highest grade are only 1k or so

I think it was a 10.0 here is a link that shows it was supposedly a record settinghttp://www.sellmycomicbooks.com/most-valuable-comic-books-copper-age.html

Probably true? But I don't trust that list, I see mistakes on it. I kinda want to avoid sales that can't be repeated as well. New Mutants 98 9.9 sold for $12k once, goes for 3k now for example. And I'm not so sure the ASM 300 price would be repeatable. I could be wrong though lmk if you find anything else on it?
I'd never seen this before, but in checking some sales I saw..........
the painting used for Robocop's movie poster and NES game box
$47,800 sold in 2014

Isnt there a ridiculous clause in the contract that bill Murray can release it if he desires?

Heh I bought that Aphex record.....or at least the official vinyl-rip release of it!
Also Megatron for that much?? Huh?? I have that figure in box!
Gobbleygook #1 true first appearance of tmnt, worth more than tmnt 1 1st., its extremely scarce.
What does the walking dead go for in 10?
