NWC @ CGE

For those that have been practicing, get to CGE tomorrow! Scores so far in my contest have been relatively low (average ~200k) with the max of 1.6M. I will post some pict links later...

Er, is his shirt really backwards or did you flip the image deliberately?
  • The image is just flipped, comes off the camera that way (dont know why)
  • Where's his NintendoAGE badge?!? image He said he made a namebadge with NA on it, LOL
  • After the first days the top scores are 1.6M, 969K, and 668K! Makes the scores on this site seem awesome, but most people dont practice for hours... image

    My wifes sister playing:

And me getting pitiful score: (yes I was posing, no I don't play like that)

  • Kinda wish I could've gone to this thing.  Oh well.  Maybe they'll host one in Ohio or south Michigan sometime.  :-P
  • There is a show in Cleveland (Midwest Classic Gaming Expo) or whatever that is usally pretty good. CGE has always been in Vegas except for like one year it was in San Jose.
  • Ja 2005 was in SF bay area (10 miles from my place), but they said they are never leaving Vegas again. I think it is lower attendance because of local people, higher attendance from everyone else because there is so much else to do. 2006 there wasnt a CGE so they could take a break (and Joe was starting his physical store).
  • Who started and organizes the CGE?  Nd when was the first one?
  • I believe the first one was in 1997. It's organized by 3 people, Joe from DP, I believe Sean Kelly, and I can't remember the 3rd of the top of my head
  • NGD attempts again, this time with NA badge!

Still didnt get into top 3, which is currently 2M, 1.6M, and 1.3M

  • Its all over! The 1st and 2nd place guys battled many times, consistently getting in the 1.6-2.0M range. image

Final scores were 2.1M, 2.0M, and 1.6M. My next hardware project is a box to trigger multiple NES systems at once...

Is it the same group as the Las Vegas one?
  • That would have been awesome to go, but it was just too far away.  Chances are I would have gotten too nervous playing and scored in the 1 million range.  image

Thanks for the updates and pics.
  • wow. looks like a lot of fun. Wish I could have been there this year. I guess I get to look forward to next years... who knows what the NES homebrew scene will be like in a year!?

Right on.  I've spoken with Al over at NES World and want to try making a game.  I don't know how successful I'll be, but if it works out, that'd be cool.
  • I live like 8 hours from Las Vages..I want to go to it next year
  • So who were the winners? You didn't grab names at this historical event? ;-)

Oh, and what did they win? A pat on the back and a kick in the ass?

These must have been folks that have played this game many times before. Are they Nintendoage forum goers?

  • I think 1st won $50 cash, an NWC repro and a USB adaptor, 2nd won the same, less the cash, and third won just a USB adaptor. I was watching it at the end and the top two guys played each other over and over side by side (starting at the same time) right up until the buzzer. It actually felt like a small scale NWC.

And I love how NGD still sports his giant grin even when he's gaming image

Did you get the email I sent you with the .zip file?

  • Very cool idea bunnyboy! I think I only played it 3 times at CGE and never really made a good run, 600k was my best I think. The NA guys would have destroyed the competition, lol. That is why we need to make a stronger appearance next year.
