Help! I need some guidance in what to do, I think I'm affected by the CIB bug...

Hello fellow members,

I've been collecting loose NES games for my personal collection in the last weeks. I was only collecting games I like to play.

The problem is, with all the CIB goodness being posted in this forum I think I would like to go the CIB way for these games I like to play...

I'm not rich by any mean, so, what should I do? Sell what I have right now and buy CIBs right off the bat? Ask for box, manuals and other stuff? Ask to trade + giving some cash? Go suicide myself and begin a new life? I really dont know... image

Any tips or guidance on what you would do if you were like me and on a budget.

Let me know and have a nice day all!

  • I would say jump in and find what works for you.
  • I know there's some people in the same boat as you so I'm sure you'll get some decent responses.

For many common games, it is very possible to find a matching manual and box without too much effort. However, for a lot of the higher end / hard to find stuff, I think it'd be easiest to buy it CIB and sell off your loose cart.

    Just my .02
  • Fight the urge man... loose carts all the way...
  • just go loose carts... will that extra box or manual really complete you? image
  • ^^^ They complete me image
  • I want to go CIB because it look nice when properly displayed. It wont change my life, you're right, but it would be cool to have these games complete, that would help relive nostalgia or something, hard to explain. image

Completing my existing carts will propably be a pain right? I guess I should sell and beging a new... Cash is low right now so keeping everything and buying CIB is out of the question. That's why I envisaged selling them to buy some CIB... Also someone that doesn't mind a loose copy but got a CIB one I could trade with him + a little cash.
  • if your are looking to fill nostalgia and you feel CIB is going to fulfill that best, then collect CIB.

Jonas has a lot of CIB for sale, message him, get an idea of what is what and how much, then decide if you want to sell your stuff or move onto looking for boxes and manuals individually.

edit*** buying complete CIB to start is probably easier though, if you are not too far along.

  • I'm not that far, have about 60+ loose NES games right now
  • if you plan to be a hard core collector, sell off all loose stuff and only buy CIB from here on out.. its going to cost you alot more but a CIB collection is much better, and im not to hot on the idea of pieceing shit together..
  • i started collecting cart onlys, then i started collecting cibs... i had more fun piecing things together by buying manual and box lots on ebay. i bought TONS of auctions of just boxes and just manuals. i also have traded with sosafan a million times. overall, it got me to about 650 CIBs. for the rarer stuff, you pretty much gotta get it cib and sell off your carts.
  • Is their that many lot of boxes and manuals on eBay srh201? Because most deals on eBay seem to be in USA only and/or they doesn't ship to Canada that pisses me off so much... When I look at auctions with eBay Canada, I only see auction from people shipping to Canada and doesn't see lots of lot like this...
  • someone on here wil lmost likely help you out, you just have to ask. I am in Canada, so I can't!
  • Yeah If I could get help to buy a couple of boxes and manuals that would be great. But it will probably be pretty hard that way. I think I'll sell and buy CIB.
  • well if you see auctions on ebay, let me know. i can always win them for ya and have them shipped to me. when you have a bunch of stuff here, i can ship one huge package up to you. i havent seen many larger box or manual lots up in a while though... although i havent really been checking too often. my biggest buy was a lot of like 375 boxes with matching manuals for around $1200-1500... i forget the actual price. that was fun to sort through those!!! image
  • I started my collecting loose. But after about 20 carts I moved to CIB and I was much happier I love displaying/organizing my games and its just so much of a bigger awe when people come into my game room to see. image
  • srh201: I'll take that in note if I see anything usefull in the USA only. image

But I'll still go the CIB right off the bat way I think.

Thanks all, your help is appreciated!
  • Yeah the best manual lot in awhile was the one that ended the other day... had like 135 manuals and it ended somewhere around $2 per book, terrible price, couldn't believe how high it went. But sign of the times.
  • I would start saving money probally would want to save about 1500 dollars. then watch for a large lot of cib games. you will always get a better deal buying in lots. then once you get a big lot go thru the games and if any of the ones you have are in better condition swap them out, then sell all the extras and repeat the process
