NES for my birthday in 1991. The first and only game I had for the next few months until Christmas was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2. Then Christmas that year I got Bugs Bunny Birthday Blowout and Joust. By the time I got my last NES game in 1995, I had a total of 25 games, which I all still have to this day. Here was what I had as a kid:
It was mostly my mom's console, but still. The games she got with it were Pitfall, H.E.R.O., Enduro, River Raid, Pac-Man, Keystone Kappers, Megamania and Sea Quest. All good stuff.
Similar boat here. I don't know when my parents bought it, but we've had an Atari 2600 since I was a baby, and I started playing it as soon as I was big enough to hold the joystick. We always had a ton of games, thanks to the video game market crash. We had over 80 games by the time the 7800 rolled around.
The first system that was actually bought for me was the NES when I turned 11. My brother had his NES a few years before I finally got mine(and he got a SNES shortly after). It was awesome, because I remember just begging my parents for SMB 3 to play on my brother's NES; I had no idea they were going to get me the game and my own NES.
First console I got was the NES (1st model). I was very young so I don't remember my parents actually getting it (mom won it from a local grocery store actually), but I did play the games a ton. We had Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 2, Gun.Smoke, Legend of Zelda, and Golf. My sister tells me we also had SMB3, but I have no recollection of playing it so it must have been lost/stolen when I was still very young. Not sure what order they were purchased in or if any were bundled with the system.
We also had a Sega Genesis, but I also do not remember the day it was bought as I was still young (it's the 2nd model, must have been 93). The first system I can remember actually getting was the Episode I Pod Racer N64 bundle when I was 8.
My first console that was my own was the original gameboy i got for my 7th birthday. Got that and Links Awakening and had a gay old time! My brother had got an NES when i was 3 tho and i played it all the time but Gameboy was my first! Shortly after that was Super Nintendo!
Picture right after i had busted into the gameboy!
Atari 7800 back on Christmas 1987 or 88 (pretty sure 88). Besides the pack-in Pole Position II, my parents also picked up Asteroids, Centipede, Choplifter, Desert Falcon, Dig Dug, Food Fight, Galaga, Ms. Pac-man, Robotron 2084, and Xevious.
Family got an NES for Christmas when I was 4. It was the family console. I had to play on my brothers SNES and N64 by doing favors for him. My own first console was a Genesis we got for free with 7 games or so when I was 12. Lion King, Aladdin, PGA Tour Golf and a few others. First I bought for myself was a Saturn with 8 games for $50 when I was 14.
Unless you count the TI-99/4a my first was the Atari 2600 and with that I got Asteroids, Berzerk, Combat, Superman, E.T., Frogger, Pac-Man, Jungle Hunt, Missile Command, Demon Attack, and Star Raiders
NES. SMB/Duck Hunt, Christmas 1988 I believe. We probably ended up with 30-something games before my brother sold them all in 1993 when we got a Genesis.
I first started playing games at my grandparents when I was 2. It was an Atari and NES with tons of original games. I had a blast growing up with them. When I was 3 or 4 I did a commerical for a grocery store and was paid enough to buy a SNES console with my own money and super mario world. Later I ended up getting more games like Zombies Ate My Neighbors, All-Stars, Alladin, Lion King, Batman. I never had any of the good RPG's because I was just too young. Later on I got into my RPG's when I was introduced to Suikoden 1 on PS1 right when it came out!! God I couldn't wait for Suikoden 2 after beating the game!
Super nintendo for 6th birthday august 1992. Came with mario world.
I dont remember my game order. I remember getting dkc, mario kart, super bomberman, mario allstars, mario paint pretty early. Friend got me super star wars.
I rented alot of games during summer. Joe and mac a bunch. Loved dinosaurs
SNES, back in probably '96 or '97. I was 5 or 6 years old. Around the same time I got a used GameBoy pocket, my uncle's NES, and a GameBoy Color atomic purple.
The SNES came with Super Mario World and Super Mario All-Stars. I played those to death. Later got Super Mario Kart, Donkey Kong Country, and Sparkster. I don't remember owning LttP, I think I might have borrowed it from my uncle for several years.
For the Game Boy/GBC I had F1-Race, Super Mario Land, TMNT, Tetris, Link's Awakening DX, Turok Seeds of Evil, THPS, Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX, and Game & Watch Gallery 2.
All the NES games I played were hand-me-downs or along those lines. Had SMB/DH, SMB2, SMB3, TMNT 3, MTPO, Zelda, Zelda 2, T&C Surf Designs, Captain Skyhawk, Top Gun, Gradius, Dragon Warrior, Bubble Bobble, Jaws, Contra, Castlevania 2, Tennis, Yoshi's Cookie, Gotcha, Urban Champion, RC Pro-Am, Pinball, The Little Mermaid, Where's Waldo, Friday the 13th, Excitebike, Marble Madness, Hogan's Alley, Goonies 2, Jackal, Karate Kid, Tecmo Bowl, ... wow, I had more games than I realized.
ti-99, which is probably something most people around here have never even heard of. Games were Slymoids, Parsec, and some others that I've long since forgotten.
My parents already had an Atari 2600 and Commodore 64 by the time I was born. The first console of my own was Christmas 1992 SNES with Link to the Past and Bulls vs. Blazers and the NBA Playoffs. The first game I actually remember going to Toys R Us and getting brand new was Starfox.
NES Power Set for Christmas of 89. Still have everything, except for the original outer box, including Mario Bros./Duck Hunt/Track Meet cart. Loved the power pad, still do. Nobody I knew ever owned one so it was a cool experience to own and play one.
Over the next two years we acquired new games for birthdays and Christmas. Games included Mario 2, Blades of Steel and Paperboy. Wow! Great memories!

hey arnold was more late 90s i think. but nicktoons started in 91 with ren and stimpy, doug, and rugrats. Rocko was a couple years later but still a classic. ahhhh real monsters was probably the last nicktoon I watched all the time that started in 94. Started fading away at hey arnold. Started in 96 when I was 10 so I caught the first part of the series. I watched alot more cartoon network late 90s. All the good game shows like nick arcade, guts, hidden temple, pete and pete, snick started in the early to mid 90s. Some just awesome shit. Great time to be a kid. Your age group really is the cut off for knowing what its like without internet and not having a cell phone. Us mid 80s kids got the best of both world. Alot of new tech as teens and adults but got the simple childhood without all the phones tablets and crap.

yeah unfortunately all I remember getting here in Canada were the nicktoons, so I did miss out on all that. We didn't have Nickelodeon but different channels that played reruns. Same deal with CN, courage is one of my favourite cartoons ever, still watch it
NES for my 10th birthday back in 1990 (the classic two controllers/Zapper/Mario+Duck Hunt; why can't consoles now come fully loaded?)...Duck Hunt was the first game I played. A short time later used copies of Legend of Zelda, 10 Yard Fight, Baseball, Metroid were added. On my 11th birthday I got Super Mario Bros 3 (boy was I obsessed with that game, I did full playthroughs and the cartridge actually felt hot when I was done) and Super Mario Bros 2 the following Christmas (I think). Too bad I had to wait until Christmas 1994...but at least it was the Mario All-Stars+Mario World Super Nintendo Super Set where you get five complete Mario games standard!
Atari 7800 that came with Pole Position II of course and I also bought Asteroids at the same time in February of '87 or '88. As of now I am one game away from a complete in box 7800 collection. Back then I also got Centipede, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong, JR, Rampage, and Desert Falcon.
Thanks to backwards compatibility I was also buying 2600 games and I got my NES Christmas of '88 that I also got games for. So for a few years before I got my Lynx and Genesis I was buying new games for three different systems. Once I got the Lynx and Genesis I still got games for my older systems, but at a much reduced rate.
