Games you got as a kid and absolutely hated
Did you ever get a game as a kid that you bought ot rented and you absolutely hated. I remember me and my cousins rented mortal kombat mytholigies sub zero and we hated the game with a passion. Then that christmas I got my own N64 with Mariokart 64, Jetforce Gemini and Mortal Kombat Sub Zero Mythologies

Edit: haha, my phone's kind of racist.
On N64, as I got older, I bought Hexen from Wal-mart for $70 + tax (most games were $60 at the time). Single handedly the worst purchase I've ever made on a video game. And of course I tortured myself and my friends by forcing us to play it... had to get my money's worth.
Hydride and Elevator Action Edit: haha, my phone's kind of racist.

God, yes (NO!) Hydlide! I vividly remember standing in Toys R Us with my brothers and picking it based on the cover art. Much weeping and gnashing of teeth followed, but we beat that damn thing.
It's the only legitimately "bad" game I recall owning as a kid.
But I muscled through and learned to love the quirks.
(I guess some people might count Astyanax, but I actually thought that one was fun from the get-go with the big colorful boss monsters)
Also 95% of N64 titles lol
Romance of the 3 Kingdoms and Genghis Khan. Not surprisingly for a 5 year old, I could not understand what the hell was going on. Sadly those traumatic experiences turned me off from these types of games for life!

It's funny I still don't like Koei games much, and I actually liked Genghis Khan as a kid. The action animations were charming.

I really need to play it again. Have a buddy that absolutely loves the series.
Had kind of a love-hate thing going with Hudson Hawk.

I think Astyanax is pretty good too
After about 15 min of playing it, I knew I didn't like it. I tried getting into it a few times, but I've never cared for the game... Still kicking myself for picking that instead of ANYTHING else in the store.
My mom took me to get a game from the pawn shop after I had been REALLY sick when I was young (she felt bad for me and wanted to do something nice, my mom is awesome). I picked freaking Lemmings (SNES).

While that was one of the more disappointing rentals I picked, as a kid... for a sleepover of all things... it's not a "bad game", per se.
It's just not really well-suited to the SNES controller interface.
If it supported the mouse, it'd probably be great.
Same thing with Populous. I had that game on the SNES and while it wasn't "great" (and I certainly never devoted the time to actually beat it), I did play it quite a bit, just due to the novelty of it.
But a mouse interface would have made the game really good.
I was also not thrilled about getting FIFA International Soccer. I had already given the sport up to focus on football and probably asked for something like Earthworm Jim, not a sports game. Ended up digging the game though
SwordQuest Earthworld and Fireworld. My parents didn't know it was for a contest that expired a couple years before. Spent hours wandering around hoping something different would happen.
Journey Escape. Yeah, I was that one kid who bought that piece of crap. You haven't heard Don't Stop Believin' until you've heard it through an Atari soundchip.
Sea Hunt. A Froggo game. If you know Atari, you know how bad that is.
Desert Falcon. Played the shit out of it, but it has nothing on the decent 7800 version. That's when I learned not all consoles were the same.
NES
Ghostbusters. Probably the most disappointing game for the NES in my experience.
Last Starfighter. My cousin had it, but I borrowed it. Hey, it'll be just like the movie ... right? Right...? ...
Absolutely did not know what the hell I was doing, and for some reason kept using the putter...
Looking back, it's not really as terrible a game as I thought as a kid, but it definitely doesn't rank up there the way modern game lists would like folks to believe.

Top Gun
I actually liked Top Gun once I learned how to land. The Advantage is a must, though
Anyway. More than made up for it on my tenth Christmas. Mega man 6. Fuck ya! Played that one till the sun came up.
This or ToeJam and Earl 2; though a solid game on it's own, not at all like the first.
