PS3 game suggestions

I just got a CECHE01 PS3 at a pawnshop.  The types of games I usually go for are:



RPG (turn based as opposed to most action ones  - not into  combo moves and all that but simpler ones are cool)

SRPG (turn based)

Strategy (turn based)

Adventure games (ala Link to the past)

Puzzle games



I am going to get the Sonic Genesis collection and order Nectaris from the PS shop.

Congrats on your new PS3 system! It has so many great titles to choose from that I'm sure you will find many fun games to play!



I was going to type them all out, but pictures are worth a thousand words...so  

Here are my picks:



RPG:

 



Adventure games: (Shovel Knight is Cross-Buy on PSN, so if you buy it digitally you will automatically be able to download it on the PS3, PS4, PS Vita, and even PSTV)





Puzzle games (not sure which type of puzzle games you like, but I like these). PVZ has Peggle on it, which is a lot of fun.

Also, don't forget EVERY PS3 system is 100% backwards compatible with PS1 discs so there are another 3,000+ games to choose from so get playing. Hehe

If you like old-school platformers, Puppeteer is phenomenal.

I bought a ps3 for Folklore, but also Eternal Sonata, and Valkyria Chronicles.

Aside from the bvious ones like Skyrim and Red Dead, I'd say 3D Dot Game Heroes, Nier, Eternal Sonata, and I personally love Dead Island even though some people can't get past the glitchiness.

My two favorite series of all time are both playable almost entirely on ps3. Uncharted, 1-3 you can play on ps3, they are ambitious adventures with captivating storylines. Metal Gear Solid is more strategical action, you can play through 1-4 on the Legacy Collection and 5 seperately. Metal Gear Solid has the best story of any game I've ever played. It's involved, intense, and has an unbelievable amount of emotion and depth.

Don't bother with Bayonetta on PS3, it's a terrible port of the Xbox 360 version.

It was too RPGy for me, so I stopped playing it.

Get PS+, the offerings for ps3 games are getting really good with their focus shifting to ps4.



EchoChrome is one of the games for ps3 this month and it's one of my favorite puzzle games ever.

They fixed the frame rate and aliasing problems in an update patch.

it's just a shame they waited so long to do so. I played it on the 360, PS3, & Wii U. The Wii U is the definitive version, but it's still very much worth playing on any platform you happen to own. 





Also, with 3D Dot Heroes, for anyone looking to buy this, you may want to do so sooner than later.



The price has been creeping up over the last couple of years and I see it popping up on many YouTuber's "Hidden Gem" videos too.

That combined with the limited production as a system exclusive, may cause it to jump in value much like Under Defeat HD has done.



 

Bort License Plate

I like the stuff from early in its life. Motorstorm, Uncharted 1, Borderlands, BioShock to name a few. BioShock is my favourite game from that generation

I haven't played PS3 in forever, but Demon's Souls, 3D Dot Game Heroes and Valkyria Chornicles were killer apps



...though the last one seems to have gotten an HD reissue

I just got a copy of the wizard edtion in the mail - looks like it will be a sticth to play.

Journey was fantastic. Oblivion, Skyrim, and fallout 3 would be worth it. The last gen was good but I feel like I missed out on a lot of great titles that stick with you.
