Wierd Paperboy Box

A guy asked if i had Paperboy for sale and i checked through my games and i found this:

At first eye sight it looks like a normal box, but there is something strange about it. Down right corner there is an A, which indicates PAL-A. The code for the box is FRA, which is PAL-B. Now, lately i learned that some games that were sold in UK (where they used PAL-A) had the FRA code on the backside on the cart so you might think that this box was sold in UK too. But here is the wierd part. If you read the text on the box it says:

"This Game Pak cannot be used with the Mattel or NES versions of the Nintendo Entertainment System TM"

UK used the "NES version" so if it was sold in the UK, why would they have a notice on the box that the game wouldnt work on their system?

The game that is inside this box is PAL-B tho. Is it possible a miss print?

  • Is the text with the "Cannot be used" msg a sticker or printed on the box? Don't FRA games work on both PAL-B and PAL-A consoles? I've never seen something like this, though, pretty cool!!

I checked if it was a sticker when i first saw it, but its printed onto the box, so its pretty wierd. The description on the back of the box is both in english and french. Altho France used (or maybe still use?) SECAM as TV system the games does follow the PAL-B system. I'm 99,99% sure i've tried a french NES game on my PAL-A system and it just started blinking.
