NintendoAge 2016 Weekly Contests Presents: Adventure Island 2
Hello everyone and welcome to the latest installment of the Weekly Contests! You all may not know me, but my name is Master Bimmins and I need your help. My cousin, the legendary shirtless and 20-time Olympic runner Master Higgins, was napping on a tropical island under a palm tree when he got conked on the coconut by...well...a coconut. At first I thought he was okay, but now I think that whack to the ol' melon has made him go rather insane. He started off by wanting to alphabetize his silverware and then he started scrubbing his stainless steel sink like there was no tomorrow, muttering something like "how did this get so silver. I need to scrub the silver out of the sink." The next thing I know, he pulled all the shoelaces out of his shoes, pulled all the bookmarks out of his books, dressed up like a woman and danced to "Goodbye Horses" for a couple hours, set the time on all his clocks to random times, and then played Action 52 on the NES for like three days straight! I mean, who plays Action 52 on the NES for three days straight, let alone for more than five minutes? Anyway, I wake up the next day and Master Higgins is nowhere to be found. Oddly enough, there was a note taped to my forehead. This is what it said:
"Cousin Bimmins,
Dinosaurs have invaded Earth and they said my beloved Tina has been kidnapped by the evil monsters dwelling on the islands further down the atoll. They want to help me get her back, and by any means necessary. First of all, I'm going to eat tons of fruit and get big and strong, because if I don't, I'll wither away to nothing and DIE! Second, I'm going to hang ten and ride my skateboard all over those islands like a badass! Third, I'm going to throw a stone ax at each and every last monster I find and I'm not going to stop until they're all dead! And last but not least, I'm going to fulfill my childhood wish...I'm going to ride a dinosaur! Be very jealous of me! Oh, and please don't try to come after me and stop me. My revenge must be complete!

Holy crap, he really has gone insane! Dinosaurs don't even exist anymore! Plus, those islands down there are a nature preserve! Those are some of the rarest animals and exotic fruits in the world and they're not to be touched! Here's where I'll need your help. I need you all to find Master Higgins and help guide him back home before he gets himself into some serious trouble. I really hope these are just the ravings of a madman and that he's not actually serious about this delusional mission of his. Here's what you need to do to get Master Higgins back home so I can take him to a shrink:
The contest ends Sunday, 6/12/16 at 11 PM NA time. Your user name MUST be written or typed on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid. The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid. No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted. PRANK MATERIAL --- You may not go to work, leave your NES on and come back from work to continue your game. In the event a player is leaving his NES on while going to work, all his contest points earned will be redistributed in equal part to the two competitors that live closest to him. --- PRANK MATERIAL No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed. You must take a picture of your computer monitor. There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers. Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, slow motion functions, or save states if playing on an emulator. Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests. The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed. Good luck everyone and have fun

Play until Life 0
You may not play any of the game on Life 0. Once you get to this point, you must stop playing and take your picture. Anyone suspected of playing the game on Life 0 will have their score disqualified.

Yeah I played it for a bit, made it to world 2 on the first easily enough. Not sure if the difficulty spikes at some point
I find it doesn't really get much harder until the Ice world, still not overly difficult though.

Something falls out of a tree that was cleverly put there underneath some leaves and DEAD.
Haven't put as much time as I'd like into the contest the last few weeks. Hope to actually get in the mix this week instead of holding down the tail end of the scoreboard, if possible, especially since this game is so lighthearted and less of a gauntlet. Requisite placeholder participation score, for now.
Early run. My goal is to beat the game by the end of the week. I have zero idea how hard it gets.

I'm glad you dig the write-ups every week. I really enjoy writing them and already have a rough outline for the next two. The Adventure Island 2 intro almost didn't happen as I kept dozing off at the computer last night I ended up writing it very early in the morning.
I always imagined Master Higgins just on a big acid trip......eating lots of fruit, riding dinosaurs......yeah he took some acid for "sure".
I bet it all happened in his backyard to.........his woman was probably like 50 feet away the entire time.

Haha yeah...don't worry there will be a picture for the next score update. I just got this score and didn't want to leave my NES on, and then got busy with other things.
I like the charm. But not playing the game.
It's funny how the coconut hits him in the head during the intro

This game is one that seems to have torn up labels much more often than not, and I have no idea why!
I used to have one similar to this but I was able to upgrade cheaply to a much nicer copy.

Man did I ever hit a big wall at the stage before this......had 9 lives going in and 2 coming out. Lost all my damn items I had saved as well but next time I will be sure not to use any as it is a waste...you should do it bare ass if you die there once.
What exactly are you saving those Bubble Bobble dinos for? I get the hatchets but those damn dinos do more damage than good. Also the secret areas are damn glitchy, sometimes I get them and other ill throw 100s of hatchets and not get them!

Saving them for later levels, I hardly even die once until world 4 or so.
For the bonus levels you have to jump on the area of the hidden egg, not throw things at it.
