  • MS Saga is a cool RPG, Kinetica was a Tron-style racer I really enjoyed, and Red Star is just awesome.
  • Please consider Shadow of Destiny:

    http://playstationage.com/index.cfm?FuseAction=Element.View&egID=126141&lgID=126141&sID=126141

It's a fantastic story in where you have to explore ways in going back in time to prevent yuor death in scenarios in the present. very compelling and replayable.

    Also, The Bouncer!:

    http://playstationage.com/index.cfm?FuseAction=Element.View&egID=110340&lgID=110340&sID=110340

A 3D Streets of Rage game which I find fantastic! It's not long and lacks co-op sadly, but the option to choose a character each scenario and see the story from their perspective is very interesting.
  • God Hand, well, I don't think it's a sleeper hit but I did not see it in your list.
  • Howabout, grafitti kingdom, magic pengel, chulip, neo contra, Dual hearts, ys the ark of napishtim, the warriors.

Actually it should be.  I used to have it

Same with Neo Contra, Ys, and The Warriors.

I'll look into the others, including titles I had written off like The Bouncer.  There was a local copy of Kinectica for $5 that I'll probably pick up in the next few weeks now

  • Not sleepers, but not on your list:

Mega Man X7 (A lot of people don't like it,but I'm recommending it anyway.)

    Mega Man X8 (Underrated)

Dragon Quest 8 (A must play!)

Star Ocean: Til the End of Time

    Ico

    Shadow of the Colossus

Last two I have for PS3 so I won't be re-aquiring them.  Ditto for DQVIII now that it's getting a 3DS release

  • The Red Star gets my vote.

A member here (wrk, mainly on SegaAge) a few years back slipped this into a package with some games I bought off him as a surprise, and it's fantastic. You can buy it brand new on eBay for $25.
  • Also, would imports like Michigan Report From Hell be playable on US systems?
  • Mr. Mosquito is awesome!

If you have a modded console, they will.

  • If you liked the Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance games then you might look at Champions of Norrath and it's sequel.
  • Echo Night: Beyond is like a supernatural Horror Adventure game. I've never played it but it looked really interesting.

I really loved all the mech customization in MS Saga. The battle system was really good as well.

  • I've said it before and I'll say it again.

    Mr. Mosquito!

  • Highly recommend Burnout 3. One of my favourite games for sure. Also like Tony Hawks Pro Skater 4, Gradius V, Spartan Total Warrior and the Prince of Persia Trilogy.
  • Metal Arms: Glitch in the System (although you could also get it for gamecube)

    War of Monsters

Stretch Panic (this is a weird one)

Adventures of Cookie and Cream (co-op is a must)

    Eyetoy Play and Play2

    Space Channel 5 Special Edition

Not sleepers but I'd still recommend:

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time

    Spiderman 2

    Metal Gear Solid 2

It's pretty boring once you've played through it a couple of times, IMO.

Not nearly enough variety, and way too short.

  • I didn't see 007 Nightfire on your list.

I thought the PS2 version of that game was really strong, whether single player, or multiplayer.

It's the game that everybody remembers Goldeneye to be, before they realize that Goldeneye looks like a bucket of chunky puke.

Overall the game is a really good Bond plotline that draws from a few of the lesser films in ways that really boosts their appeal and gives them new life.

And it plays REALLY well as a twin stick stealth shooter.

I'd caveat my earlier nay-saying that it's probably worth $5 of gaming time, if you don't expect too much.

The game was really overhyped when it came out, and if you're remotely good at beat-em-ups it is going to be a joke, in terms of challenge.

  • idk if this will help you but maybe look up a list of PS2 exclusives...you can find all sorts of hidden gems on lists like that.
  • Urban reign

    Fd-18

    maximo ghosts to glory

    maximo army of zin

    Ill add some more later.
  • Champions of Norrath

    Champions: Return to Arms

I've already taken the list of PS2 games, pared down by removing most of the PAL stuff, a good chunk of multi-console stuff, and most of the annual franchies and shovelware.  That still leaves 500+ titles.

  • Dark cloud 1, and a much MUCH improved dark cloud 2

Yeah I had both.  Debating whether or not I'd play them again.

Wow still? I knew the PS2 had a lot of games but I figured exclusives would be...well a smaller list.

  • Call me crazy, but I actually really enjoyed Neo-Contra. That would likely be one of my first pickups along with Twisted Metal Black.
  • I like monster rancher, but my wife thinks it's boring as hell. Wonder if she's changed her mind over the years

I thought this game was a lot of fun playing solo.  Even though you're playing through the same stages, solo and co-op felt like pretty different experiences and I think it's worth playing both ways.
