Testing Submission

Hey, I wanted to give the "submit a score" thing a try, make sure I'm doing this correctly for the contests. I decided to try a round of Marble Madness and ended up having a darn good round for me (120,680). Anyway, here's the screenshot.

Submission test!

Is this a correct submission? (That is, includes the system, upscaler, screen with score, and ID card) ?

  • Really just need the screen and namecard. Emulators are generally allowed
  • The rules are stated weekly in the explanation for each game being played.

"This is a portion of this weeks QBert: Your user name MUST be written or typed on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed.  You must take a picture of your computer monitor.  There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers."

I would say your test submission fits the rules, but it is up to the powerful ones running it to decide! I just use a name card.

    Awesome. Thanks!

  • Looks good to me but like Brock said, you just need the full screen and your username on a card. The toaster doesn't need to be in the picture
  • Whoa, that score sucks Daniel, never submit a score that sucks (kidding, that's a good Marble Madness run).

Yeah, like everybody already said, this submission is A1 and while the toaster doesn't need to be in the picture, it's not bad to leave it there to show your gear.

Now play some Q-Bert and do it for real
  • Gotta be a man and show that toaster lid up dude! hahahahahaha
  • This is clearly a fake, look at how dark the picture is to make you have to squint to see the imperfections. Probably bought that score off Aliexpress. Lol j/k! Looks good man, even if you did find an excuse to show off your set up.

    Expose the cartridge? Online? Scandalous.

Pretty sure we have a copy of that. Of course, getting anything resembling a decent score is another matter.

    Haha! Nice.

Really, the problem is that the TV is a much older model Samsung. It's got a game mode, thankfully, so the input lag is minimal, but the screen is pretty reflective, so taking a picture of the screen basically turns the black on the screen into a big ugly mirror. Hence the dark.

I incorrectly assumed the setup had to be part of the picture for validation purposes.
