My second playthrough of Dragon Warrior 3! This time the SNES version, and it plus DQ1+2 SNES look

  • Aw man. I'd have played DQ 1-2 remix first, then 3. Of course 3 is still fresh in your mind so it makes sense in that regard. You should have changed it up a bit with your party,or at the very least tried out the new class added for that version....the thief!

Also there is a (tough!) bonus dungeon with a (very tough!) bonus boss,so you definitely don't want to miss that. I assume you are using a guide of some sort so I figure that it will give you all the details about it.
  • Oh I did do DQ 1-2 SNES version first.

And I'm using the StrategyWiki guide...it's got handy charts for the weapons/armor/items and such you see.

    Ah okay. Very nice!

  • Sorry for not updating my status in awhile but I'm now at Level 11/13/12/12 and I'm going to clear out the twelve chests in the Pyramid (the ones each guarded by Mummy Men) and then the Baharata Cave.

I should go on to Dragon Warrior 4 after being done with this right?

    Yes...yes you should.

  • But I also have Final Fantasy 3 (the real one, on the NES), Tales of Phantasia, Secret of Mana 1+2, and Phantasy Star 2-4 waiting on deck, why shouldn't I do one of those next?

Because DW 4 is considered the pinnacle of the entire series by a lot of people. DQ/DW 5 is also pretty amazing, but I would definitely play DW 4. Honestly I'm surprised you are replaying DQ 3 remix right after finishing DW 3.  Of course this is just a suggestion...so play whatever you'd like.

  • Loved DW3 on the GBC. Playing DW1 on the NES at the moment, and will probably probably replay the rest of the first four within the year.
  • Yeah if you have access to the translated remakes, there's very little reason to play the originals.

Also DW4 is definitely the best of the NES bunch. If you were going to skip a game should have jumped straight to 4 to begin with.

    Daria's suggestion > my suggestion.

  • Sorry for me taking so long to update...I got a couple of the Orbs and I guess I'm trying to see how far I can get without having to grind for Jamiee's (Sage/Cleric) promotion
  • Well I now got all six orbs and the Airship, eh I mean Ramia. And that was a beautiful gorgeous job with how they did the whole six orbs hatching the egg scene in the SNES version (whereas in the NES version the orbs aren't even different colors!) and I also like the purple/orange sunset backgrounds you sometimes get on the battle screen. I guess in terms of colorful graphics/audio the Super Nintendo/Famicom really is super

PS: So they go through all the trouble of doing the whole Mode 7 deal for flying Ramia, but they forgot any kind of speed-up button for Ramia.

They fixed that in DQ 5.    And at least you don't encounter enemies while flying on Ramia!
