Thoughts on metal mech?

I remember playing this game a while back and not really getting into it. Was thinking of revisiting the game.

Any fans of it? What are your thoughts on this game?

  • It's awful. The last stage especially is brutal and stupid.

Normally on these threads, there's always one person who pops in to say whatever horrible game being discussed was actually one of their childhood favorites, and isn't actually that bad. Well, I'd be very surprised if anyone did that for this game.
  • I've never even HEARD of this game until right now, and while I don't have an opinion on the gameplay I totally need to try it just for the "LET'S DO IT MECH!!" screen that pops up.
  • Metal Mech... as opposed to a plastic, wooden or paper Mech?

  • If you want to break a few controllers go for it. Frustrating game. Terrible controls. Hate it.
  • Just played this game for the first time the other night, extremely frustrating. As stated by other members, bad controls mediocre graphics. I put it down after about 10 minutes.

It annoys me because I feel like this game had potential to be loads of fun, but it's like they didn't even care about the game play during design.
  • I remember buying this brand new when it came out for $80+ I took it home and wow did it suck! Not even an hour of having it I begged a friend to drive me back to Toys R Us to return it. Back then you could return games if you didn't like them. If my memory is correct I'm pretty sure I exchanged it for Nes Play Action Football which was better but not by much lol!
  • I remember playing it on an emulator and not liking it. And when I won it as a prize in the NA contests I ended up trading it to another prize winner for the cart they won.

Not much of an upgrade on the trade in, haha.

I'll take it over Metal Wreck for sure.
  • I have a feeling this game went over better in Japan, which generally has a much higher tolerance for games with giant robots and convoluted control schemes.
