Knights of the Old Republic

I have them both for the original XBox and theyre outstanding games but I've heard there are deleted missions and a slightly different experience on PC. I tried them on the 360 and were unplayable so I need yall that have firsthand experience to chime in if you would. Are there GOTY versions with improvements or are they straight ports of Xbox only? Any opinions are appreciated. Thanks

  • only the 2nd really has anything deleted and you need a fan made patch to restore it there's nothing official restoring any content.
  • The first KOTOR is one of the better RPGs I've played. It has its faults (the classic Bioware inability to decide if it wants to be turn-based or real-time) but is a terrific and fun game. You have to forgive it its faults, though, as the game does suffer from some bugs. Save often!

The second improves on the combat system a little, but suffers from being rushed - in an effort to get it out in time for the holiday season, the plot got heavily truncated. You can tell; there's a significant drop-off in the game's cohesion about midway through, and by the ending, you're basically just reading notes for 'this is what we would have put in the game if we had more time'. Sad.

That said, it's about as cool a world as exists for Star Wars outside of the original trilogy.
  • Luckily part 2 has a lovely fan patch though, and there's even instructions on how to install it in the Steam discussion group.
