Zelda: Legend Of Link - How do I beat the invisible boss?

I completed dungeons 1-3 and now I'm at the dungeon with the skull on it. I get to the boss of the dungeon and he's invisible. Am I supposed to just randomly swing my sword at the air? I am able to hit him doing that but it's not very effective.

These are both for The Legend Of Zelda. I'm playing Zelda: Legend Of Link. Is it the same idea? Just swipe at the dark? I don't have the bow to be able to shoot arrows at him.

Same idea but not a swipe at the dark. He gives up his position by shooting at you. You don't need the bow yet for LOL.

move around the middle area with your sword fully charge than release. That's what I did for an easy kill.
