Yeah, Abigail is a mofo. Try to get away from him and get him to turn red and charge at you. When he's rushing at you, you can punch him and get him into a combo. It's the times that he's not raging and just walks towards you that are the worst; all I can think of is to try and special attack, and hope he doesn't simply grab you with his insanely large reach.
Get to him with a sword and you can absolutely destroy him, although it can be tough to get to him without losing it.
If not, the best thing you can do, in my opinion, is initially take as much damage from him as possible by doing a grab and bashing him three times, then when he gets up give him a little bit of room and 'buffer' time. If he charges at you, I find a aerial attacks work best. If he doesn't charge then he can grab you right out of mid-air. You can also stand in the corner and special every time he gets within attacking distance. Kinda cheap, will probably cost you one life, but it's better than 4 or 5 if you go blow for blow. Definitely the hardest boss in the game.

I found for the dragon boss, the quicker you beat him the better. Typically you can spam him with about 12-15 hits before you even really have to move, then just worry about avoiding the first two lava spills. Once you get past those and hit him again he's typically going too fast for the lava to even spawn. One of the runs I had the other day I fell off him and killed him with my last upwards boomerang. The point screen came up as I was falling to my death... it wa pretty epic. Sadly, I died in a really stupid spot a few levels later.
Got to Abigail but had 0 lives and only half a health bar, so one or two slip-ups is all it took to demolish my attempt. May give it one more go but doubt I'll finish the game in time to rank with the big dogs. Seriously, my hats off to you guys. Final Fight can be quite the endurance test (on your thumbs and your patience).

Ive beaten this game before using continues. But with 1 continue I just cant get past Katana. I was super close. I struggle more at Katana with Cody but I get there with more lives. Haggar, I can do much better on bosses but get there with less lives. Got tired of playing so going ahead and posting a score by the deadline.
Argh! Was doing so well and my son came into the room and started asking random questions and blew my focus! We'll see if I can find time before midnight to get one last try in.

There are definitely a couple troll spawns in this game. The rock mountain level 4-2(?) is ridiculous for that as well. Those jumping guys spawn out of nowhere when you're jumping up and soimetimes clip you without warning. Really lame. I'm content with 3rd place on Final Fight. The run that I submitted took everything I had, I've never played the game as good as I did that time, and that was after a gazillion resets from losing lives at Katana(Sodom) and Abigail. This month has been super busy too, can't find a spare evening to sit and committ to a bunch of runs. I've actually missed the NES weekly contest here and there over having too much going on. Might have to go back to submitting scores from my work PC at break time; I was trying to stick to just submitting from home on my hardware.

There is a falling platform in between the islands. The penguin shows up when you land on the platform and are jumping to the next. Its timed where the penguin will be right under you no matter what. You have to down shoot before you land. On about 25 percent of runs this happens. The other 75 percent itll just dive in the water and wont chase you for some reason.

You get 200 for jumping on it, but it just makes everything harder to it and you miss points. and you get no bonus for getting through the level on it. On the run I posted, that was the highest point total I got out of the three times I got to the dragon. I got to boss 4 pretty easy once when I kept playing after the 1 death to learn the next levels better. This game is all memorization. Every time I died that wasnt caused by BS it was because I forgot about stuff like the lava. You get excited to get back to that level but dont focus. It sucks because World 4 was actually pretty easy

Yep, that penquin is a pain. I found if I jumped to the ledge and turned back to face it for a second while in the air it would fall into the water. Definitely caught me a couple times though. Level 4 and 5 aren't too bad. The ice level (5-1) you have to take your time on, but other than that the game is pretty straight forward. Last boss first form can be a little annoying, but he goes down pretty quick with the strongest weapon.
