Who Uses the Wii In Place of Their Gamecube?

I'm not sure why I don't currently do this on my HD TV.

Doesn't it look a bit better on newer TVs to used the Wii (+ RGB cables) to player their Gamecube titles?

  • I use my GameCube instead of Wii for the Gameboy Player
  • GameCube and component cables on my hd tv and it looks great
  • I actually don't own a GameCube, so being able to play them flawlessly on the Wii is fantastic! There's a lot of great games for the GameCube.
  • The real question: who uses their GameCube as a Wii (to play GC games on)...
  • I use my Wii U for Wii so there's no point using a Wii for GameCube and sacrificing the GBA player
  • I know you guys probably think I am nuts but I only own like 3 GC games....

    Super Mario Sunshine

    Metroid Prime

    Resident Evil RE:make
  • I actually use a Gamecube controller on my Wii because the Wiimote is a piece of crap.
  • I'm mainly asking for the quality difference with the output. Most people, including myself, don't have the GC component cables so why not use the Wii? I barely ever use my Game Boy player, personally.
  • There is also GCVideo if you don't have the component cables

No I don't I don't think you ew nuts because that's about how many I own. And all of mine are Pokemon games except Paper Mario:TTYD
  • Cheap component video, load Gamecube/Wii disc images from HDD, emulators, Wii VC, WiiWare, you'd have to be crazy to say no to a softmodded Wii.

I do still have a GC + GB Player, but I don't use it very often.

I only have Super Smash Bros - disc only

  • I use a Wii for everything else but Wii, but I use Wii U for Wii. ...that's a lot of Wii in a line...
  • Gamecube with S-Video for me. Gamecube games look better on my hdtv with S-Video then on the Wii with component.
  • I did until my Gen 1 wii died many years ago. Replaced it with the newer wii (at the time). Now I just keep everything hooked up all the time so it doesnt matter any more.
  • I'm using a meh CRT so quality doesn't matter much, and I don't have a Gameboy player, but I still like to use a standalone Gamecube just for the startup
  • Yes I use my Wii for both Wii and GameCube games but I also need a seperate GC hooked up for Game Boy Player.
  • I still use my GC for the GC Games and Gameboy Player. Have a Wii U for the Wii games
  • I use my Wii U to also play Wii games. (that and I dont own a Wii) I use my Gamecube as is plus it has Gameboy player for all my pokemon fire red needs.

If your not worried about the GBA player then absolutely use a wii! I just purchased a PVM (in the mail) and plan on using a wii with the $10 componant cables to play my Gamecube Games rather than find a $200 set of componant cables for the GC...

The gameboy player with the hori snes pad is a must for hard gba games. Ninja five-o is just so much easier this way then a wide gba

  • I haven't used my GBA player in years, so I use the Wii for Gamecube. That way I can eliminate some space on the shelf.
  • I use the Wii for Gamecube playing. I don't own enough Gamecube games or play them enough as is to warrant keeping a Gamecube console.
  • Well I'll be. I had no idea that the wii played GameCube games. I've never owned or even played a GameCube. I guess I'll have to look into picking up a couple of titles.
  • I have ISOs of my GC games loaded on an SD card and I play them through my WiiU in Wii mode with Nintendont.
  • I often use the Wii for Game Cube games, and I only have the Cube itself out for the Game Boy Player.

Be aware that not all Wii consoles play Gamecube games. It needs to have the Gamecube controller ports.

  • I sold my Wii when I bought a Wii U, since I just use that for Wii & Wii U games. GameCube looks way cooler than Wii, so I always used GameCube for GameCube games, regardless of how they look.
  • I have component cables for my GCN, so it actually looks a bit better than when I had the Wii setup via component. Gamecube for life!
