What do you think of IGN top 100 nes list
Is the top 100 nes list by IGN is a good reference for the best nes games in the library? What do you think about this?

Meanwhile Ironsword seems to have been included mainly for the cover art -- and Ring King, for its homoerotic cutscenes. Neither game should be anywhere near a Top 100, though.
OTOH it's nice to see Section Z get some recognition. But I'd dump quite a few games on this list for games like Air Fortress, Gun.Smoke, Marble Madness, Solar Jetman, Xexyz, Zanac, etc.
There were a few I found questionable but not too bad. The only MAJOR gripe I had was fucking Goonies 2? Really?!?!?!
Haha. I was okay with that one. Seriously flawed game but at least it was fun.
Hats off to them for including Castlevania III in the top 5.
Mickey Mousecapades is a crappy game, did they really need all 6 Megamans and all three Castlevanias? They're saying Castlevania 2 is more fun than 600+ other NES titles? No. Dragon Warrior was an important title, but the first one doesn't deserve a place in a best of list stacked against the rest of the library.
Yes, I think some of the titles in the list are there for the importance in the era, and not for a top 100 nes games.
Not sure how kickle cubicle made the list.

Only problem is they didn't list that as a qualification:
How did we pick the games? We had two conditions: they had to be released in the U.S. and they had to be fun.
Why does anyone even pay attention to these lists?I think IGN and others deliberately put garbage in these lists as well as lowball fan favorites to get people talking.
IGN is like the kings of video games man what are you talking about? They know everything there is.
Said every 14 year old ever.

Yeah.... pretty much.

No way this is a metroidvania style game at its WORST! No hints or anything. Just a clueless time waster!
PLUS if you get to the last room without the fucking key... YOU CANT GO BACK! Theres no way to go back you have to reset!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mario Bros. (it's an okay port but, especially in a post Super Mario Bros. world, it hasn't aged all that well)
Mickey Mousecapade (ugh)
Ice Climber (meh)
Ikari Warriors (how Ikari made the list and not Cabal or The Punisher baffles me)
Fester's Quest (this game was the stuff of riff-legend for my brother and I growing up, 'twas not a good game and even back then we knew it)
And no TMNT 3, Gun-Nac, Bucky O'hare, etc.?

That's actually not true. I just played through the game for a review and forgot to grab a key, you have to use the diving suit and it tosses you back into the under water level.
I mean I guess that's kind of cryptic but by that point in the game I was just used to the logic.

I remember getting to that last locked door underwater, and not having a key and having no way to go backwards no matter what I did. Thats how I remembered it. This game is really cryptic and not that fun. Having to knock on walls with a fist or hammer randomly hoping to find a hidden door... cmon.

I mean that's kind of like saying Zelda is not fun because you have to randomly blow up mountains and burn down trees. A lot of NES era games just kind of dumped you into an environment and left it up to you to figure out how to win the game. Cryptic scavenger hunts aren't for everyone but I still really enjoyed the Goonies 2 despite that. I'm sure you probably love some games I can't stand.
I personally never liked those games, and seeing you're YT handle you're right.
I get bored very easily with those kinds of games and I cant stand RPGs (mostly).
Agree with what else been said as well. Just throwing my two cents on what hasn't been mentioned.
I've seen this countless times and could care less. Someone's opinion on NES games...but since it's IGN, it appears to carry extra authority (BS). All these lists suck because they aren't your own!
There's lots of good games missing and some very questionable ones included. I would agree with the sentiments of Mickey's Mousecapades. Most (except Talespin) of the other Capcom Disney titles are far better.
More thoughts below...
You're just asking for disagreement all around posting that link, OP

Yeah, well said.
No matter what... everyone's lists will be different. But really... they should call it "100 NES Games We Like", as that would be far more accurate, haha.
I glossed over the genre that I don't like (RPG) but saw many platformers and shooters that I would describe as "crappy". But yeah, it's all too objective to put together any sort of legitimate list.

Yes but to make ny own list, I will have to play all 677 licensed games of the library, and this will take me years. And as the others says, the games you like are subjective. For me, the games I prefer are platformer, puzzle and rpg. Shooter genre is ok, and beat'em up is the genre I dislike the most with sport game. So everyone as is own list and maybe it is better this way.
Thank all for sharing your opinions.
