NES is the champ, I expect it to be the most popular. As for 64, all the new collectors grew up with it as their first console, so they're buying all the games they had or wanted.
SNES may have dipped a bit recently just because it's more expensive for the good games.
I think the N64 jumped up a bit because it's 20th year anniversary hit (June 23, 1996 in Japan). Maybe some news about that got out, and made people feel nostalgic for a system, thus the demand went up.
I'm starting to see it at the gamestore I work at too. At one point we had less than 10 at a time, now we get in maybe 1 or 2 at a time.
By that logic, the SNES could gain more ground in the year 2020, when it hits it's 30th birthday.
Considering prices, I'll disagree. If N64 was nearly as popular we'd see more than 3 games over $100. Once buyers actually flood the market we'll see the rare games separate from the pack like we've seen with NES and SNES
The price of Hurricanes tells me SNES is as popular as ever

Seriously though, I think I sold my entire SNES collection back in 2008 and I got $300 for it. It was a little less than I was expecting, but now many of those games go for $100 plus, and Pocky and Rocky is getting to the point of what I sold my entire collection for .
SNES definitely seems more popular than NES based on price alone. I also feel like the graphics for the SNES really are perfect for any gamer no matter the consoles they grew up with. It's much more refined than the NES but not outdated like N64.
SNES is my favorite. Hopefully Kevtrex does something similar like he did with the HiDef NES mod kit after that sells well, but I know there probably won't be a solution like that for a couple years minimum with no one actively working on it right now :-(
N64 has a small library ~300 games vs. Nes (750), snes 750), ps1 (1300). So you get a lot of collectors who pick the library they have the best chance at completing.
I'm personally blown away at how high the common, leading franchise games have become on both SNES and N64. I'm seeing games like Link to the Past and Smash Bros. hit $50. The franchise games are higher on SNES and N64 than their NES counterparts. The SNES uncommons seem to be on-par (or sometimes outpacing NES) at this point. The obscure N64 games don't seem to be doing much right now... there just don't seem to be a lot of hidden gems for that system to get player/collectors excited. The N64 library just seems really shallow; if it's not an obvious favorite like GoldenEye or Mario Kart, it's probably just an obsolete sports game or shovelware.

Correct.
It wasn't too long ago (2008-2012ish) that you could get a stack of NES/SNES/Genesis titles - all killer and decently tiered - for similar/fair prices, regardless of the console. I'd leave with piles of games for less than $50. Play N Trade started catching on to price charting, ebay, amazon, etc - but I'd always talk them down. There's nowhere like that (at least around here) anymore.
The demand and prices for even common popular snes titles is pretty high. Uncommon and hidden gems are thru the roof. NES has peaked, anything that was going to spike already has, and a few have started to cool. N64 is gaining traction slowly, but isn't quite there yet, maybe with the 20th anniversary coming up it will? N64 is a bit of an odd duck though so we will see.
Look at prices. Snes is way hotter than n64 and seems just as demanded as nes now. Just look at the crazy prices. I dont get the premise of this thread at all. I think its just you OP.

Not sure about the whole 64 thing. I think that has to do with the people who grew up with the 64 now coming into "collecting age".

Who else used to watch the Hurricanes cartoon?
When did it air? It doesn't sound familiar to me ...

Early to mid 90's, one of those less popular cartoons. Might have been piggybacking on the world cup being in the US in 94, so around then I guess.

Ok, so I watched the intro and definitely do NOT remember this show. I do, however, miss 80's hair bands singing theme songs for tv shows!

Yeah I remember the theme song, who did the music for it?
