I found NFL Blitz Special Edition AND Beast Wars "in the wild" dirt cheap a few years ago, and promptly sold them at their then going rates as to me the n64 is Nintendo's worst console (not hating, just not my system of choice). This was at a flea market full of resellers circa 2012-2013. Anecdotal evidence, yes, but nevertheless it did happen.
Maybe at the time their value hadn't peaked yet so they were overlooked by the masses and resellers, but I'd have to assume that if they were truly "super rare" games they wouldn't have been as easy for me to find as they were. In other words I have a hard time looking at them as equivalent to something like Hurricanes, Metal Warriors or Wild Guns on the SNES; games you simply never see out and about away from a commercial/gamestore setting.
I sold 2 CIB Super Bowlings that had just been opened by a local store in 2012... I think I got $60 apiece on them. I think I paid $20 apiece... Should have held onto them, but I just kept the cart only version I got that day.
Compared to the rest of the N64 library, some of the titles perceived as rental exclusives whether correctly or not (especially Sculptor's Cut, Beast Wars, and ISS2000) are indeed more difficult to find. That being said, I've found every one of these numerous times in the wild and I do not consider any of them to be rare. Any one of them can be had at any time on EBay or Amazon.

Nah it was at Disc Replay in Columbus Indiana
Probably from McVans then, I got my copies at the MEGA in Fort Wayne, Mega paid a certain amount per hour to clean out the McVans basement. The Manager here told me that they bought a couple hours, and the MEGA stores just backed up trucks and loaded them for those hours.
I was also talking to an ex McVans employee, he told me that the origianal owner of McVans was buying a couple hundred of any game that he thought would sell well, and that if they didnt sell he just left the full cases in the basement. He said that eventhough McVans went bankrupt, there was probably enough money tied up in sealed games in the basement to pay off the bankrupcy, and retire to a tropical location. He said that the management was so lazy that they had no idea what kind of inventory they had in the basement. I spent about $1500 at MEGA and added a ton to my colelction, and made about 20k on eBay. I wish I would have had more time, but due to work I could only hit the store once a week. I know several other guys that collect in the area that were hitting it daily and spending $2500+ a week. It was just insane the ammount of games that came out of that basement. K3vbot even had a shot at it before MEGA got their hands on it, im not sure what all he got out of it, but I know he got some great stuff.
There was also a huge influx of copies of Panzer Dragoon Saga in the area after that. I know one local store had 3 copies in at once, rumor has it that one guy pulled 50 copies out of that basement.

Well, now I have yet another cart that I let go as a common thinking it was nothing special. If it ever gets to Little Sampson Value I'll never sell another game. lol

I hadn't been following this, but interesting to see what happened here. I passed it up for $40 all day long and then I've been kicking myself for the past year for not picking it up, thinking that it was a real change in the market and not just one guy manipulating things. i get it you need cash and see a way to pump the price of a cart up and dump the ones youve silently picked up at the low unhyped price. but understand thats toxic for the hobby. new collectors now have to pay upo an extra 100 for a game that used to go for $30. youve personally helped make it harder for real collectors to complete their 64 set.
Re-selling and changes in the market are part of the challenge of collecting. There are many members here that buy games to flip or sell off duplicates, and you can follow it pretty easily. There's no point in loosing sleep over something you can't control in regards to disposable income (collecting).
