Ports of PC games to the NES that were better than the PC originals

I would say damn near any koei game, the PC/DOS versions usually had no music or any real audio for that matter. And had better visuals IMO.

  • The original Might and Magic is much prettier on NES than the PC.

I've never played through the NES game to know if it is feature-complete, though.

Similar for Wizardry 1 and 2.

The early Ultima games probably qualify.
  • Ultima Exodus for sure, off the top of my head.
  • I had ROTK 2 on PC, but the PC version definately has it's strengths.  It was more responsive and easier to navigate the menus, which is quite important for this type of game.  The graphics I think were at least as good as the nes version.  Sound not so much
  • There arent that many. A lot of people would say the c64 version of platoon is better than the nes, but I own both and i personally think the platoon on the nes is better.

In terms of ultima, the games may seem more playable on the nes but the originals version seem nicer. Maniac is better on the c64/dos as well.

720 may have been better on the nes.

I forgot 2 was NES too, I only really ever played it on SNES and PC.

  • I really enjoyed Maniac Mansion for the NES.
  • Larry for the NES is great! Then again, it is the only version that I have ever played, so I can't say which is better.

Were there any games that went from say the MSX to Famicom back to PC, where the NES version was used as the base and not the original version? Just curious, as MSX stuff and its influence on the Famicom have become increasingly interesting to me.

I'd like to know too as I haven't done too much research on the MSX.
