Spot Goes to Hollywood (PS1)

I stumbled on a complete copy of this for $3.99 yesterday. Had honestly never even heard of the game before. Loved the original Cool Spot. Anyway started this game up and was really blown away by the opening FMVs, really cool intro, and then the fast paced gameplay, and the graphics are the closest thing I've ever seen to Super Mario RPG, and might even be a little nicer. The controls initially feel awkward but it doesn't take long to get used to them.

I checked out the Genesis version online, which I never knew about either, and it clearly doesn't hold a candle to the PS1 version. It looks very sluggish in comparison, and the graphics are nowhere near as good.

If you've never checked out the PS1 version of this game, as a fan of Super Mario RPG, I'm recommending you do so!

Yes, and the Genesis version is way inferior, which was something I wanted to point out. If you don't like this game on Genesis, DEFINITELY give the PS1 version a try. I never would have compared the Genesis game to Super Mario RPGs standards

  • I enjoyed Super Mario RPG, but the isometric platforming aspect is the worst thing about it. Thank goodness it's mostly an RPG.
  • There's also a Saturn version of this! I've been meaning to pick it up. I had this game on the PS1 many moons ago and loved it.
  • Jeez for a game I'd never heard of, and loved the original, I can't believe there was supposed to be a SNES and 32x version too.
