I listed jimmy houston for 50 because i was about to reapply my sale to all listings of 25 percent off. So itll actually be 30 something. There werent sny on ebay. This wasnt some buy up ebay copy situation. That game is actually uncommon.
I found the jimmy houston in the wild 2 weeks ago 4 hours out of town. So give me a fuggin break. Im not about to orice it for 10-20 and have it sell immediately. Just testing the waters on the title, so calm your tits. The only titles i bought online because of this thread were for myself.
Who cares where you found it?
You only listed it for $50 because of this thread and even with the sale price , people are going to see it as $50 marked down to $37 on an uncommon fishing game no one cared about that was always $10 shipped or less.
I still remember when you tried to buy up all of the copies of a few NES games to make them spike and all of the SNES Miracle Pianos 4 or 5 years ago, including one from me that it looks like you are still trying to sell. lol
It kinda does matter how i acquired it and the facts of the matter because from your pm and from this thread , you are trying to insinuate I hyped up jimmy houston to sell it. I re read this thread , and lmao, I actually downplayed it and said its a 6 when others said it should be a 7. When ranking it, I didnt even have one. A prior thread pointed it out and I picked up one for a buddy locally since his primary collection is snes. I found since then 3 more. Once was completely ripped up and even though it was 4.95 I passed on it. Then a couple weeks ago, I even posted it in this thread of games I found. Well I found 2 jimmy houstons. So one went into my collection and I found this one. You mentioned you wouldnt have said anything if I had waited till a high sale happened then sold it. Well there werent any online and I didnt want to put it low and it just get bought in a day. Sue me. So it would have been ok just to sit on it and sell it later. Just smh at the logic around here. How is that any different.
i downplayed its rarity and gave it the same ranking as you did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As far as miracle piano
Oh my god!!!!! I bought a copy of a game to sell 4-5 years ago!!! Oh my god you caught me.
Bought up all the miracle pianos?!?!? LMAO. Um no. Probably bought one because i thought it was a low price. The game used to be more sparse and slightly higher price. Miracle piano for snes and the complete set for nes have gone down overall over time imo.
Thanks for reminding me though. I was going to lower it a long time ago but forgot to and now forgot i even had it.
I really don't get the gripe of worrying about price speculating. If it priced to high the item won't sell. If it's all hype then like then it will go down in price. The market will take care of it. There is no such thing as preying on people when it comes to video games. It might "rub" people the wrong way, but that doesn't mean it's wrong. It time to grow up and realize it's ok for people to make money.
It kind of rubs me the wrong way when members call other members out in a forum, to shame them publicly in some way, but that's what happens when you post things on eBay and are on NA. It come with the territory.
lol. It's just like Quest listing a loose Jimmy Houston cart for $50 or coffeewithmrsaturn with the $25 Latin version of Super Goal 2! (not USA) that just sold and he's trying to get $200 for
More proof of speculation on NA leads to price spikes, not exclusive to youtube or other sites. Good enough reason to get out and leave if for the blood suckers.
Are you Quest's business partner or something? I know I took a payment from him with your name and sent one to someone with your name too. lol
A rarity guide should be from someone who plans to be 100% objective and not someone who is buying up games or name dropping as they go how rare they are or how many years they have been buying in the wild and not come across a copy.
It's one thing to save a few copies and then list them as something trends up naturally, but it's another thing to try and start the trend yourself and to be someone who helped make the rarities.
You're right collectors of super nintendo on a collectors site that has a rarity database shouldnt make it accurate or discuss it.
Lmfao
You are now openly questioning my integrity by saying im not going to be honest with my rankings. The fuck?
Notice there were no copies and I listed it for a price to see if it sells instead of listing it cheap, then it sells then the price goes up and im then the foolish one. If there were other copies id have priced it competitively with the others.

Yes I work part time on it, but I really don't think that's any of your damn business.
I think your making some wild assumptions about Quest and prob a lot of other members that made this list. If he was just trying to hype up games why did he make a list for games he didn't even own? Obviously prices are trending up` and he really is lacking a lot of these games. I personally know he spent a lot of time working on list not speculate but to really give his opinion what he thought. You may not believe it, but in the end it really doesn't matter.
Dude you need to reallize this is public forum and there is a lot of people that contribute. You can't control peoples motives even if they were trying to speculate. I don't even no where to begin on how holding on to copies or selling them now for a higher price is any different. Some people would would say hoarding copies is morally wrong too. People have diffrent opinions on what is right, but at the end of the day it's fucking nintendo games.
I have 5 copies of Kawasaki Superbike (all loose). Come at me bro.
I don't collect CIB but I have no problem with the guy listing it at that price. You have other shit games like Fun N Games and 3 Ninja with retarded prices for CIB for no other reason than they are rare. If these people were real collectors they would have already known it was rare and purchased it years ago when it was worth diddly shit.
Brock made a similar statement, that people have had literally 20+ years to collect this stuff for nothing, if they missed out over all that time than they weren't very serious to begin with or maybe they just got into the hobby to ride the bandwagon. Who cares if they can't afford it? These are collectables. Anyone who wants to play this stuff doesn't have to pay a single cent for the entire library.
I personally am still missing a bunch of shit for SNES, but I still rated everything independently of that. Just look at the variances of all the lists we made, most of the ratings were only off by +/- a point. There is no conspiracy here to make stuff seem more rare than it is or to hype games we own. We all gave our honest opinions and that's why the ratings are so close.

You're making a lot of assumptions here.
Everybody who comes into collecting does it for different reasons. Maybe a fire claimed their collection and they're starting over. Maybe they sold their games years ago to make ends meet and miss their games. Maybe they played a game at a buddy's house for the first time in 20+ years and realize they miss their old games.
Maybe they loved games their whole life but just now landed on their feet and are ready to start collecting. (I was one of those, literally could not start collecting for many of those 20 years because I was kicked from my home and living from paycheck to paycheck. And you can bet I'm dead serious about collecting.)
Anyway, the welcome threads have plenty of examples.

Ok. You have 5 copies and rated it an 8. I have 5 or 6 including a couple CIBs and rated it at only a 6 because I could have bought 5 more at that time. lol
Were you hyping the rarity on your list just because you had so many or was I underestimating it becuase it was so easy for me to find?
I have sealed copies of Jimmy Houston and a bunch of other games I would have liked to downgrade to playable CIBs, but now I have to worry about someone selling me one for "too cheap" compared to a $50 loose cart they see listed and then backing out like the guy who I just bought a $13 copy of Big Sky Trooper from and relisted it for $35 because of the active unsold ebay prices (a copy had just sold for $15 shipped the same day) .

Big Sky Trooper - SNES Super Nintendo: 1 x $8.99 = $8.99
Well that's just too bad for them. If you are just getting into it now in 2016 you have to deal with all the BS that comes along with that. Nobody is entitled to cheap video games, you either pay the prices or leave the hobby. If their life circumstances "prevented" them from collecting when these games were in the dollar bin I can't say I really feel that bad for them. These are wants, not needs.

I still think it's an 8. I'm mainly going based on history of sales and how infrequent it shows up (about 1 a month or so). I just happened to start buying them whenever I found one because I knew it was rare and they were fucking piss cheap. What did I have to lose? I've never seen one in 4-5 years of looking in the wild, the only time I've ever seen it is online. So whatever, if you don't think it's an 8 that's fine, but I'm sticking with my rating.
I've found plenty of other stuff in the wild that's listed as a 8 in the current database. Casper, Hurricanes, Fire Striker, Fun N Games, Oscar, and a bunch listed as 7. I've found all of that stuff personally, but I've never seen a Kawasaki Superbike. So I don't think I'm being biased.

Off the top of my head Pushover, Street Racer, and Super Buster Bros. were all down graded from 8s. I always thought those 3 were rated way too high.

Yeah I doubled checked those, I was going off memory and I think they were in the old list. I edited my post.
Of the games listed as 8 in the current database, I've seen:
Casper, Fire Striker, Fun N Games, Hurricanes, Oscar
I saw a Jimmy Houston this weekend for $2. I didn't grab it because the label was damaged and I already have it, but I should of, just to sell it to another member here for a deep discount. Oh well
I'm going to be on the hunt this weekend, are there any not crazy expensive yet elusive snes titles my fellow snes collectors are needing to fill gaps?
California Games II, Zool, Yogi Bear, Obitus, Wing Commander Secret Missions, and Frankenstein are all relatively cheap games that I've never come across in person

Ok, i'll see if I come across any of these ones this weekend. I've actually only seen Wing Commander Secret Missions once in stores.
California Games 2 is sneaky. It's a crappy game and an garbage franchise, but the company that published it wasn't exactly setting the world ablaze with their releases. (Pun intended for FireStriker which they also published and is their best release on the SNES).
There are a lot of games that are getting pretty tough to find Made in Japan/color manual that are otherwise pretty common. Think most people in this particular discussion are more concerned with the cart only though.

I've found plenty of other stuff in the wild that's listed as a 8 in the current database. Hurricanes, Fire Striker, Fun N Games, Street Racer, Pushover, Oscar, Spike Mcfang. I've found all of that stuff personally, but I've never seen a Kawasaki Superbike. So I don't think I'm being biased.
Off the top of my head Pushover, Street Racer, and Super Buster Bros. were all down graded from 8s. I always thought those 3 were rated way too high.
I still think it's an 8. I'm mainly going based on history of sales and how infrequent it shows up (about 1 a month or so). Yeah I doubled checked those, I was going off memory and I think they were in the old list. I edited my post.
Of the games listed as 8 in the current database, I've seen:
Casper, Fire Striker, Fun N Games, Hurricanes, Oscar

Also looks like that marker doctored kawasaki with meh condition box went for triple digits still.
That Kyle Petty racing cart eluded me for quite some time in the wild.
Scored that one for $1 this past weekend. First I'd seen it.
California Games II, Zool, Yogi Bear, Obitus, Wing Commander Secret Missions, and Frankenstein are all relatively cheap games that I've never come across in person
Ok, i'll see if I come across any of these ones this weekend. I've actually only seen Wing Commander Secret Missions once in stores.
i still think timon and pumbaas jungle games is rarer than a 2, wondering about in different areas.
What about tommy moes skiing and snowboarding winter extreme? Never seen that before until i picked it up from a member on here.

Tommy Moe I ran across two weekends ago. Not sure if I'd paid much attention to it before
Timon and Pumba I've seen tons of them. And there are plenty of games up here that I never see
