  • - Hard nes games you beat when they first came out?

    - Hardest Super Nintendo Games in your opinion?

    - Nes games you have beaten more than once?

    - Nes games you can't seem to beat?

    - Hardest games you will commit to beating one day?

All within a 2 week span. Obsessed?
  • Eh, to be fair, some of those had interesting discussions.

Yeah, they are all perfectly valid threads. Interesting you went back and traced the amount of time those were posted in. Obsessed?

I mentioned this earlier, I'm not going to stop posting what I want because of your opinion. It's pretty simple logic.

Honestly, this isn't the first time you show this kind of reaction, you almost come across as some sort of a bully. I strongly suggest you stay out of my threads if you don't have any kind of constructive thing to say.

Apparently GuitarZombie goes crazy when things don't go his way and he needs to let others know his thoughts.
  • These questions are perfectly valid.

I was too young to beat anything on the NES when said games were new
  • I kind of see his point though - they're all pretty much the same post when it could be condensed into 2 or 3 threads. It's also a little annoying how you ask a question but don't offer your own personal experience.

A post like this definitely needs more of a prompt, I'd agree.

(we've seen from other threads how widely opinions vary on which games even constitute "hard games")

Cant believe 8 year old me did it!!!
  • None. I wasn't very good at NES games when I was kid. My friend and I beat Lifeforce using the Konami code, but I don't count that. I did beat Bubble Ghost for the PC

Yeah but there is a way to say that or anything else you want in a constructive and respectful way, without being rude about it. That's the difference. The point is I'm trying to create discussions for everyone. A number of them may seem similar but all are different and are made at different times, and sometimes, it's not possible to put them in one. I can see your point in a way. If mods decide to do anything which involves grouping or deleting threads, then it is up to them, and I'm completely open, then again I don't see anything wrong with any of these threads.

Yeah sometimes I'll admit I could participate more often, other times I would like to see different thoughts, or just create discussions for the greater good. Many times I'm quite busy with work, so I post but don't respond as much as I'd like.

But harassing someone from posting while also using names like "obsessed" and "weird", and being open about it is something that should be fought against firmly on NA. It's pretty repulsive this mentality still exists in many places on the internet. Reminds me of toxic attitudes many people had on message boards back in the 90s

  • I didn't finish many NES games when I was young. Some folks seem to consider Back to the Future a little challenging but I was able to beat it. I did also finish Mega Man 2 but still have never finished Mega Man. That's about it though. I probably finished many more games on the SNES than the NES back in their respective days.

Edit: Oh, and Super Mario Bros. 3 but, other than the lack of save/password feature, I don't think the game is all that difficult.

This, and I'm still not good.

  • Who cares as long as it keeps the board alive. IF people respond, it's serving its purpose.
  • I never really got games back then when they were brand new, but I did beat Mega Man 2 within a week of me owning it. I also played a lot of Ninja Gaiden when it was new-ish but didn't beat that very quickly because I got stuck at Malth.

Weird, Malth never gave me that much trouble. I just hacked away at him. Levels 6-1 and 6-2, though.

    Everyone take a deep breath.

We appreciate the fact that you are encouraging conversation. However, "which NES games were hard to beat" is pretty vague, and the topics turn into just lists ( especially when the body of your own post is only two words.) we also don't want other people's threads push down at the bottom by a bunch of list threads. So please continue to post discussion topics but think carefully about them before posting.

I wouldnt call that "harrassing" as well, sure its a comment you may not agree with, if something gets out of hand the mods will take care of it dont you worry

His fire ball jacked me up.  I can beat it now but back then I didn't have a clue what to do.

  • My only request is that you write these topics down as they come to you, and spread em out over time.   Very happy to see you sparking so much conversation on the boards though.

I don't think I ever beat any NES games when they first came out. I don't even remember getting them! We probably only got them at Christmas or birthdays, and I'm pretty sure it was years before I was capable of beating anything.

I still have trouble beating all but a few NES games.
  • Contra, Super C, Life Force, Mega Man 1,2,3, Final Fantasy, Zelda 1, Metroid (I think?). I'm not sure I'd really count any of those as hard these days, but most people probably thought they were back then. I could get to the final stage of Battletoads when it was released but never beat it until I was much older.

Okay, will do, no problem. Fair enough. As mentioned, I wasn't intending not to give enough input, and many of them were not merely lists, but I understand that what you said. There are probably enough of these threads at this point anyways.

I get what you mean, I also think I usually do think carefully. Sometimes I'm tired, or I don't post the best thread, it happens ( Not reffering to this one). I hope this is understood. Maybe my reaction was exaggerated but I still feel there is always a way to address something constructively at all times and to know the difference between rude and appriopriate. But I'm looking past this now.

I just took the damage and went in slashing. It refills your meter before and after, so I didn't sweat it too much. Just had to be quick.

Nowadays, yeah, I work on dodging.

  • Malth was as far as I got as a kid because I had no idea how to fight him. Turns out that it's a very poorly designed boss fight where the best strategy is to button mash.
  • That was my strategy for all bosses. It just happened to only work for Malth.

My thoughts exactly.  He's not harming anyone or being a jerk, just keeping some chatter alive and the threads he makes usually create good conversation.

And to answer the question, Mega Man 4, 5 and 6 as I remember getting them new and immediatley beating them.

  • Doubt it was considered as hard as the first one, but I beat Ninja Gaiden II over a weekend after it had came out. Thought I had some mad skills back then. It's still my favorite in the NES trilogy.
  • Man, get some tougher skin kid. I just had to look at the threads you created. Im pointing out the redundancy of some of these threads. I don't crap on all of them, but it just seems like you're forcing yourself every week to come up with them. Its almost thread spam.

What NES games are the hardest that are good?

What NES games are easy that are bad?

Whats the longest time it took you to beat a game?

Whats the shortest time it took to beat a game?

    Hardest game thats fun?

    Easiest game thats fun?

Easy games that were hard for you to beat?

Hardest games that were easy for you to beat?

See what I mean? Took me 10 seconds to come up with this. If you have a really GOOD topic, please post it.

    PS please dont steal these.

And to at least not poo on this thread too much. I never beat an nes game when it came out.

Im forcing myself week each to come out with all my posts? huh? Nooo.

If you the meant  specfic ones you were refering to, no I didnt force myself either. No spam there.

Most of quick titles  you listed are thread spam, since there is nothing original or unique about them, unlike the ones ive posted.

Most of my topics are really good, the almost redundant ones are in the minority. A lot of the topics you mentioned that include the word nes are similar to mine, don't see that much of a diff,  and can still fall into the trap of potentially looking almost redundant, or needing to be grouped when next to each other, at a later stage, ( only for those that see that to be a problem)

The problem is if they are always too general like the other ones you mentioned they are no longer nes or snes or retro focused, so that defeats the purpose. Whats very good to you, can be different to someone else.

i like creating that dialogue and when other surrounding topics seem similar. If they werent good you wouldn't have tons of responses. But no those specific threads were not forced.

No its not an obsession, its more about creating those discussions, engaging people around them, almost like reference threads, very few times im just tired and I made a thread.

Part of the solution is : post a bit less, check older topics, bump older threads, add more of opinion when I can.

Still find it strange how this gets under your skin and why need to be a spokesperson for an issue that doesnt really exist that would theoritically concern a mod! And why after this thread?

I dont recall any bad topics ive posted. Even though i get some of what you are trying to say, to be honest the topics you came up with seem a bit generic and weak, on the basis of time and other factors  not being interesting enough, where as literally all of mine are really strong in comparison.

I can see some of your points,  I just dont get why you needed to be kinda rude about it. You make it seem as if i dont post good topics which is weird.

  • "Most of my topics are really good..."

    --No.  Subjective.

"...the almost redundant ones are in the minority."

--Those ones were just in the past two weeks alone in this group.

"Whats very good to you, can be different to someone else."

--You cant use this for everything to defend making MOSTLY similar threads.

"i like creating that dialogue and when other surrounding topics seem similar. If they werent good you wouldn't have tons of responses."

--Define 'a ton'?  Threads with a lot of posts dont meant they're good.

"Part of the solution is : post a bit less, check older topics, bump older threads, add more of opinion when I can"  --Awesome!

"Still find it strange how this gets under your skin and why need to be a spokesperson for an issue that doesnt really exist that would theoritically concern a mod! And why after this thread?"

--Its tiring to read.  Don't try so hard and I felt you're spamming the group with topics.  When you have a GREAT thread, post it.  Don't try to just make some 'discussion' thats similar to what's been posted already with a minor change JUST to create it.  Quality vs. Quantity.

"Even though i get some of what you are trying to say, to be honest the topics you came up with seem a bit generic and weak, on the basis of time and other factors  not being interesting enough, where as literally all of mine are really strong in comparison."

--"Well all of MY threads were good and engaging".  You cant use the same argument for yours and not for mine.  But im sorry, ill try to keep the amount of threads i create to less than 2 topics per 6 months.  Out of the handful I made this year it was mostly looking for something.  I have no idea what you were going for with this one.   Thats all i'll say about it this time.

Yeah all of your thread examples were pretty much similar, concept wise, to my threads you had an issue with, so that defeats the entire purpose of what you trying to say. You are contradicting yourself, plus the ones you gave are very uninteresting and poor examples, not a single good one. The mods actually gave good proper suggestions. Seems really hard for you i guess, which is probably why its good you dont post often.

Meant to say creating a lot of interesting, engaging dialogue that tends to generate a lot of posts that others seem to be finding really interesting. Proof that the majority are very good threads. Its all there.

Do you see yourself? The fact thst you need to to sit and give your own personal opinion of someones posting with this strange depth, and talk down, in a hostile weird way out of nowhere reflects a lot about you.

You seem to want to force others to post like you. I dont have to looking for something nor to justify anything, nor face a hostile tone, this is unjustified. Its still not your place to take it this far.

Whats awesome is that this thread will reveal  a lot about your true character to everyone on NA. You might be needing some thicker skin. Good luck.
