Hot enough for you?

  • I'm not looking forward to this.

I don't mind heat, but this is too much.
  • Thankful to have an AC in the room I'm in this summer.
  • I find it funny that our meteorologists are calling for this big "heat wave," when really, the temperatures have been this high since what feels like April. I think we had a total of a week and a half of Spring this year in central Ohio. Jumped from 20's and snow, to 80's and 90's in barely two weeks, and hasn't let up since.

Am I crazy, or did we used to actually have 4 seasons? For the past several years it's just been 6 months of winter with 2 weeks of nice weather, then blistering heat for another 5 months with 2 weeks of cool down.

I plan to live out of my bedroom during that time. That's the only room that I have an AC in.

Seems like the same thing happened here.

Terribly cold winter, then automatic heat. Had a few nice days here and there but for the most part it's been really hot.
  • It's been cool for the last 36 hours, but I keep them fans running!
  • its 113 tomorrow , then 114 , the next day 114 , then 112 , then 109 , then 115. I don't mind the heat but, its nice to have a pool though
  • 117 (Heat Index) for tomorrow, if I'm correct.

I love Minnesota, but holy sh*t is the weather nuts.
  • It is 94 degrees at 8:00pm right now.

    84 @ 10PM here.

That's unheard of. Sun is gone too.

  • A perfect 70 right now in the bay area.

  • My AC is dead. Sitting here in a very uncomfortable 85 degrees waiting for the repair guy to come back.

This has been on again off again for about a month. First thing I did was run out and buy a $20 oscilating fan from Wal-Mart. Definitely getting my money's worth out of it now.

I had a box fan which that gave up the ghost yesterday I've replaced that and now living 2' from it and dare anyone to walk in front of it, cat, human, zombie...don't care I will fight!
  • It's pretty hot in Dallas but that is the norm for this time of year. The worse is when I go to lunch and you open the door outside it's like opening an oven.

We had our house insulated last year and that has made a world of difference and has cut down on the energy bill. I also had to buy 2 new ac units over the last 4 years but now it's all paying for itself.

I'm sure it's hotter outside. Just taking awhile for my house to fully cook. The themostat now reads 86 inside.

Ahhhh yeah good point! It is about 87 here outside right now.

  • 89, feels like 103.

I'm actually enjoying it. I'm -that guy- who doesn't wear a coat in the winter because it's "too hot." It sucks that most of the work that has to be done is inside, I'll mow after the sun creeps down a bit.
  • Just broke 101 here.
  • Meanwhile here in Sao Paulo (Brazil) we will have a mininum of 50F and a maximum of 64F.

But next week we will get 80F.

The weather this year is very good here.

I hope the next summer won't be very hot (who am I kidding, it will be very hot and it is every year).

You and me are the same this way.  I wear a jacket in winter but short sleeved shirt underneath so I can cool off by removing my jacket.  I'm actually not able to wear tube socks anymore because my shins will feel like they are on fire even on a 40 deg day.  It was 98 - feels like 105 in North Texas today.  I actually had a slow day at work today and at about 4:45 took a walk around the property to enjoy the heat and kill some time.  In the past I would bitch and complain about the heat, for the past several years I enjoy it and bitch and complain about anything colder than 45.

  • 88 at 9:30. Projected to be 106 at 3:00pm tomorrow.

I never really cared for the heat, it just changed for whatever reason. Being outside in the heat is normally suffocating but I've been enjoying it lately.

    It's weird.

My wife and I represent a very interesting dynamic in temperature tolerence. In the winter, she'll have the heater turned up to 78 degrees while shivering under a sweater and full blanket, meanwhile I'm sweating from the brow, unconfortably hot and kicking off the sheets and every possible article of clothing. In the summer, she'll turn the A/C down to 72 with 2 fans on her and complain she's still burning up while I'm reaching for a blanket or something to keep my teeth from chattering.

Interestingly though, I'm usually okay at most lower temps with shorts and a t-shirt until you get about into the 40's. When it gets cold and windy enough for my ears to start hurting, that's when I call it. That's what I don't like about the cold. It can actually be painful to me. My ears, nose and sometimes my knees start to really bother me.

Heat itself doesn't bother me terribly. I've spent time in Phoenix and Vegas. It's humid heat that kills me. Of course, as fate would have it, I end up moving to Texas, one of Earth's delightful places that is both hot and swampy. The heat makes you sweat and the wet air makes it all stick to you like a layer of jell-o. When you want to take a shower after walking to your mailbox, you know something is wrong.

I've lived in Alaska, Arizona, Hawai'i and Texas and spent some time in California and Washington. My ideal climate? Surprise, surprise: Hawai'i by a couple thousand miles. But not down on the beach. No, too hot and humid down there. Up in the mountains is where it's at. About 10 degrees cooler on the average day.
